Red Bull RB9 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Please, don't bring that hysteric nonsense again. It was a combination of factors and circumstances which gave such difference for a limited number of laps in Singapore.
It's been repeated over and over while well argumented explanations are neglected. Pity it all started from the media and so called journalists.

It's optical illusion. The 2D properities of a picture "flatten" what would be the rectangular triangle in 3D, shortening the base side you percept and making the angle between ground and floor look much more agressive.

Don't get me wrong: the red bull stills runs by far the most rake. Just that it looks excagerated in that picture.

Maybe Vettel's donuts over inflated the rear tyres.

In the first picture what is the pipe that looks like it leads from below the heat air vent at the back and curves down into the forward part of the beam wing?

I think it's the support for the beam wing. They use a swan neck style support so that the underside of the beam wing is free from obstructions and thus more effective.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

It's just the Beam Wing's Swan Neck support, If I recall Sauber are the other team currently employing that solution.

I like this rake better :D ... and this time he didn't do any donuts or was rocking or over a kerb ...

Now Vettel said on RTL that they setup more towards the race bearing in mind what Lotus did in India with their pace and most of all with their one stop strategy ... and all of a sudden we've got a more tense qualy with the Merc boys a lot closer this time ...

I don't think so. He was turning on the left and the car rolling on the right...

I think it's difficult to get a picture of an F1 car in unloaded and unaccelerated state during a race.

At full speed you have low acceleration but high aerodynamic loads, at slow speeds the car should be either accelerating or decellerating and or turning. That's what you pay the drivers for...
If your car is unloaded and unaaccelerated during a race chances are something went wrong (except during the pit stop).

Here´s the best one, from a few pages back.
Pit limiter, no steering input just a pure rake analysis.

Looks awfully thick to be just a support. I can't help but wonder if it has some other purpose than just a support. Does anybody have any shots from other angles.
