Would that not mean the sidepod and floor are disconnected?
If it was one piece i can´t see why you would put a spring there.

Looks cool though.

It's actuated by the hydraulic force from the other dampers on the car, it's not damping/connecting the sidepod and floor.

In fairness they've had plenty of time to work on it, from about the 5th race it was clear they were comfortably ahead of Marussia and nowhere near Williams.

This is nothing weird, they were first or second last year and same year before that Maybe it's suprising because of year 2014, but bigger teams usually waits because of devolopment this year cars. They spend much more time in wind tunnel, spend bigger resources then smaller teams, and have time to choose right devolopment program for different chassis.

That’s either an air speed sensor or the wire that feeds to and from the T-camera. The cross wires are just there to hold it in place.
