I hope the numbers are proper logos for each driver, with varying styles and fonts, like Alonso's being Alonso's colours, that blue and gold. Perhaps button could have Brawns old colours for his number on the car and helmet, think it would look nice.

Think this would stand out on the McLaren. Make people recognise it more.

while also sending off 4 Hamilton players to make it more interesting"

Its a dream for people doing the branding. It would be a wasted opportunity if the numbers look the same as they did last year.

I think the numbers on the car should fit the livery. Classic fonts in roundels; helmet numbers, by all means... Go crazy.

Personally I'd love to see the return of the "meatball" roundel. Such a classic style...I also hope that a minimum size is mandated. Trying to distinguish Hamilton from Rosberg this year was a little frustrating.

Has anyone seen these?

The story behind Mercedes drivers' numbers. I found them on Mercedes F1 Facebook page.

I get the significance if 94 is meant to be 1994. But why would someone choose their identity to be a tribute? Two conflicting definitions there

Lewis' home number starts +377, and Barack Obama is the 43rd man to be US president.
