The BBC guy said they had high tyre wear on the SS yesterday, so changed the car to prevent it.Waywardism wrote:So why are Mercedes faster on the soft tyre?
It makes its rounds on Twitter since yesterday, and I remember a news report somewhere last week that the Monaco retirement set Vettel back to his last 'free' engine. So, it seems it is.RZS10 wrote:i thought all Merc powered teams got new engines apart from MGP themselves, is that table up to date?
didnt an engine go at monaco? bottos engine was it?beelsebob wrote:All the Mercedes teams are bang on target for the number of parts they should have used at this point in the season, so no, I don't think that they'll get any (or many if they do).ringo wrote:I think the penalties will cancel out because almost all the teams will be getting them. Best to use the new engines before the last race and take then penalty then. For the last race they can continue to use their freshly selected engines from the previous race.
yea exactly, In their Super soft run Lewis set purple in Sector 2 and personal best in S1 and just slowed down in the final sector.Skippon wrote:Because they turned their engine mode down.........
And I think that was Canada as well? Or Monza?Ninners wrote:I remember Red Bull tried this in 2010 and were 2nd & 3rd in quali, but Webber had to change his gearbox so started 7th instead. That's simply false. It's an extremely common strategy for anyone starting out of position on the grid, and results in pretty much the same race time. Not finishing P1 with this strategy is usually simply the result of having started in the mid field, and been held up for a few laps.ringo wrote:Fastest tyre first is always the best strategy.Over the years when teams have tried with starting on the harder compound it always results in a slower race for some reason.
