Oscar still has weak tire management compared to norris the mcl38 should of had 5 to 8 1 2's
I think it's a moot point. At the bare minimum, Oscar is a great number 2. His job isn't at risk with McLaren (F1) as long as Norris keeps driving the way he has and keeps improving. From a personal perspective, Oscar needs to improve if he wants to compete to be a number one or 1a. He has time to do that but he need to continue to show progress.

He’s a rookie! Last year was his second year in F1
So which one is it? Can't be both a rookie and heading into your third season in F1.

Also, literally no one cares about the sprints.
First two years in F1 are generally considered rookie years.

Sprints are points paying races, so they still count, ask Maclaren if they matter.

In what universe is a driver still considered a rookie after their first season in a category? You seriously have to be trolling.

And yeah, sprints award points. The drivers still don't care though, when they win one the overwhelming reaction is "Yeah it's nice to win or whatever, but it's just a sprint."

Rookie, inexperienced driver, same thing. The point is in the first two years of F1, drivers will get fairly lenient treatment by the teams and press.

Just look at Sargent, he showed no significant progression in his second year and got fired half way through. Teams expect second year drivers to still make mistakes, just not crash every weekend.

Oscar will be is in his 3rd full season this year, so he will be expected to perform every weekend. I fully expect he will.

Pretty difficult to argue for this position, tyre management in races was the biggest step up for Oscar. It could even be argued that the (great) need for this improvement may have masked some of Oscar's pace. There were times where due to being stuck in traffic OP had to adopt alternate strategy and go long, and these times showed he was really getting this art right. He has targeted better qualifying for 2025 though it should be pointed out that the deltas and the qual numbers somewhat contradicted a close rivalry. I came away with an increased respect for Lando's sheer pace and it could be argued he upped his game in 2024.

Yeah I can see easily at least another four 1-2s that could have been achieved but in a field of 5 and sometimes 7 drivers so closely matched, all we hope for is easily snatched away. To me Silverstone was the most egregious failure but there were others.

Been away for a week or so and apparently luckily too! While it's good to have unfamiliar names here, especially with positive McLaren comments some of the tone made page skipping necessary. Well let's have a great McLaren 2025, may the MCL39 be a reliable rocketship and the strategies much improved.

I have a pairing of two thoughts I'd like to hear opinions on. Heading into the crucial last three weekends of 2024 Stella was talking of an internal debate of introducing or not introducing a revised floor. Will this be relevant to improvements on the new car? And, much earlier in the season, Stella spoke of plenty more gains being made across the whole season, is that rejected new floor and/or other unreleased upgrades part of this optimism for significant gains? The team sounded bullish about being a little radical in their approach for 2025.

On the podcast, Zak was suggesting we have the most revenue of any other team.

I wasn't sure if this was because Racing has FE, X and Indy too, or if it was referring to just F1

Pre CAP that might have a difference in racing. Post CAP it's just good for profitability.

Or driver salaries, in case others come offering big bucks to tempt them away

Any MCL39 clues from that bare halo? Can't believe the team has given us nothing so far!

We made a £13m profit in 23, not huge, so not a huge amount for the exempted and driver salaries, capex etc
