Paris, Thursday: The FIA has moved to clear the air regarding the possible futures of new teams in Formula One, after speculation that teams could be permitted to miss up to three races during the season.

Clear: FIA President Jean Todt

Recently FOM boss Bernie Ecclestone and FIA President Jean Todt both confirmed that the “three strikes and you’re out” rule was in force, allowing teams like USF1 and Campos – whose participation at the opening race of the year in Bahrain is still in doubt in some quarters – to potentially have until April to get their house in order before they are committed to racing in F1.
However, the FIA has today issued a clarification to reaffirm the commitment of each team to Formula One: “It is clearly stated in the Concorde Agreement that each team is obliged to compete in each Grand Prix, barring force majeure circumstances such as fires, floods, wars and so on.
“This being said, it is also true that provision is made in the Concorde Agreement for teams to miss up to three races before they are deemed to have withdrawn from the World Championship.
“The conclusion, therefore, is very clear: teams are permitted not to turn up to three events each season, as long as they turn up to every event.”
Despite the confounding and contradictory nature of this statement, the organisation’s legal department insist that the instructions are clear: “Really it’s very simple. Teams can miss three events without penalty, but if they miss an event they will be penalised. What’s so difficult about understanding this?” an impatient junior FIA lawyer said.
Clarifications on the part of the FIA have often served to only confuse the issue in the past, such as in last year’s double diffuser controversy where the governing body affirmed that they couldn’t possibly comment on the legality of the device despite that being their job.

Panda, they forgot Speed Racer, Racer X and some of the Wacky Races staff, with exception of Dick Dastardly that already drives for Mercedes, Penelope Pitstop that drives a Nascar, Professor Pat Pending that left motor racing to design a 100mm revolutionary transmission with integrated KERS and a couple of the Ant Hill Mob guys that now run the FIA and FOM...

You may as well include Paul Gilbert the guitarist from Racer X/Mr Big or even Britney Spears (oops he driver for another team), im sure if you asked him, even QUentin Tarrentino may be interested if you had some sort of spaghetti western format for the seat, where you start in the middle and then move to the beginning, then the end of the middle then the beginning of the middle then the... Im sure the intests is there.

Perhaps we should have a poll or something as to what will be anounced from USF1 next week?

A) PeeWee says everything is cool, they'll be at Bahrain, at least himself.
B) KA says he thought rules allowed for an upside-down tub and cans the project.
C) PeeWee mistakenly hires Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull to fix things.
D) KA's check bounces at Wal-Mart trying to buy a tool-kit for the pit-crew.

Any more suggestions to ponder for the weekend?

Well yes, no-longer pensive, I have a suggestion. I understand that those long, cold days and nights cooped up inside your frozen Swedish homes in the dark could lead to a mood that is characterized by misplaced humour, dilusion, and a feeling of granduer. A few of my peers at your Grad School, the UDub campus (MSME if I am not mistaken) at Lake Washington feel like you do: depressed, suicidal, antisocial, etc. But their winter moods are much shorter than those at Stockholm. Their moods do not last 12 months of the year.

You really must consider a relocation to more temperate climates. 8)
