Ferrari F2012

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I don't dispute your comments, they may very well be right, and I don't have any problem with them if they are right. But this is a technical forum, not a fanboy site. So, to refuse to back up what you're stating as if it were fact is a little loose IMHO.

Your choice of course.
Here is a link of Fry explaining some of the F2012's problems.

Thank you.

My absence from this forum has not been a matter of months though, and even if it had, I don't think that's cause to discredit my request for you to back up your assertions.

I actually don't dispute your comments, I think that you're right FWIW, but that doesn't mean that one should not provide at least some backing.

Let's keep this civil eh?

Yes, I apologize. I didn't mean to be abrasive. Honestly I've been here since last year & don't remember seeing you. I wasn't sure of your intentions and as you can imagine with the winter Ferrari has had, trolls even find their way here to F1 Tech. I should have just provided a link or two. My sincerest apologies.

Sir, your apology is most welcome, and all is forgiven from my side. I do my share of Ferrari bashing, but generally verbally and not on this forum. While I am here, I try to remain objective and consider the technical aspects as that is what really interests me.

It is good, and somewhat rare to encounter someone with the honesty to apologise, and for that you have re-earned my respect.

Let's move on with the discussion with no hard feelings?

I'm not going to dig up the quotes, find them. The team have clearly said their problem is a lack of rear downforce(mainly die to exhaust launch not working as planned) and not the suspension. Look back through the thread, the links are there.

Let's hope that is the case. As you can see with the Pat Fry interview posted on the last page, as rumored the team will test and probably switch back to the launch exhaust config after Mugello.
But Fry said in the interview that they could only recoup a handful of rear aero points before Melbourne. Not good, I just hope it's good enough.

A good track for someone like Alonso who has the kind of craft to excel at non-purpose built tracks. But he is not the only one. I think it will be interesting luck will help.

We still dunno whether they were doing a quali run on low fuel. They still might be simulating a race stint on the softs.

Just 2 hours left. We'll get all the answers we want.

They swapped a dog for a monkey as the saying goes. No Costa and now Fry is making a mess of ferrari. Where's the team ferrari thread bty?

I think if they stuck to the F10 formula while modernizing it with the current gearbox and nose, they would still be at the sharp end.
Mclaren dropped Fry for a reason; he's too complicated in his designs, and this leads to increased odds of things going wrong. It creates chaos in the team structure.

The car needs a conventional radiator layout, remove the undercut fillet, and slap on some e20 exhuasts and keep things simple.
It's a sh#t box right now. Almost hurts seeing the car run off the road while being pushed.

I'm sure Ferrari will turn the corner soon. Don't forget Rory Byrne is there too.
