Mclaren MP4-30 Honda

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

In your opinion what is the impact of having a darker paint ? obviously it means less weight because a darker paint has a lower density but on the other hand it could be hotter and represent a problem of temperature. Probably also an aerodynamic issue because if it is hotter the density of the air and the flow is lower so less downforce. What do you think guys ?

With all the red floviz, I think it looks like the driver has gone straight through the box at speed and taken out most of his pit crew.

is it Ron's blood from bloodletting?

or the blood of his enemies?
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Cause of the change in liveries, it hard to see the shape differences from the previous race.

If they're running flow vis just about from front to back, there must be many changes we haven noticed ?

i cant spot anything other then the simple round rearsuspension part, but the pics suggest that they back to back tested two different frontwings in fp1, there are pics of a clean one without any paint and one which has been wiped clean, but seems its only minor changes to the outwas sections of the elements, thats exactly where they added flowvis at the last gp also, other then that, i cant spot anything

I think the effect of colour on density is marginal. I don't even think you are correct. If I remember correctly to create black with substractive colour mixing you need more pigment and thus a thicker paint layer.
Aerodynamics impacts will be marginal. The ambient air temperature of air 'hitting' the car remains the same.

I think since there's carbon fiber underneath, darker paint colors will require fewer primer coats. No it isn't less "dense", just less paint mass overall. But I'm no paint expert.

It was said on German Sky that Honda brought 60HP to this race.

Acordding to AMUS, Honda found some power without using tokens, but on the chassis side, the modifications at the wings did not worked as expected.
