Toro Rosso STR9 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

^ from that perspective it looks more like a RedBull than the RB10 does. Just look how steep the Engine cover is at the coke bottle

Wow, that does *not* look like TR's outwash is working well at all.

Those pictures were taken when he stopped coming out of the pits, so the car wouldn't be going fast enough for the wing to divert the flow where it's supposed to. (I think)

You really think the renault engine could propel the car to sufficient speeds to make the flow viz work?

Yes you can see that on the rest of the wing. There hasn't really been any airflow over that wing. And the fluid is also heavier than the air so when it releases from the wing it wont get carried as much outwards as the air does I would think.

The two yellow bars on the display of the steering wheel I reckon are the MGU-K and MGU-H battery levels

That would be very weird seeing as none of the above are batterys... and that both above feed energy and take energy from the same batterypack.

Looking at two of the images posted about the launch, the rear strut of the rear suspension upper A-arm, seems to be pushed towards the back of the car. to my untrained eye, it looks like a bit of an afterthought with that kink in it.

Why might they have done this? To act as some sort of flow conditioner? I know it will move as the suspension travels, but could that still be used to stop air flow "bleeding" into the space between the beam wing and main wing?

Could they have moved the wheel forward, this reducing the wheelbase by a couple of centimeters?

Could it just be a packaging issue? They needed to move to attach to the gearbox mount in a certain place or to avoid some bodywork?
