Ok...knew it would be useless to discuss with you
I'm sure Lewis will feel good at the end of the year in the knowledge he's a good sportsman, while Nico is doing his rounds as the new WDC

You are sure about very strange things.
Fact is, that Lewis felt he had a bad lap, aborted it and moved over, like every driver would do. Period.
I think it does not make sense at all if he could have hurt Rosberg in any way, if he could have done different...he did not. Maybe you are smarter...Lewis is not...nothing to discuss.

He didn't loose that much time before he lifted off, not a second anyway. Nico closes up but only because of the braking zones. If Lewis had maintained track position Nico wouldn't have got pole.
Looks to me like he lost a lot of time in the first 2 turns.

Hamilton again showing why he's so overrated. A primma Donna who's emotions get the better of him.

That's just the concertina effect, he lost some time, but nowhere near a second. The second down recorded on the live timing was the result of lifting on the straight to let Nico pass.

Rosberg was visually much closer to Hamilton when they crossed the DRS detection line after turn 5 than he was when they crossed the start/finish line at the beginning of the lap. Nico's first sector was set to be at least half a second quicker, maybe even more.

Lewis lost 2nd place today, he didn't lose pole, Nico's final lap was a stunner.

This is just speculation that no one can prove without Lewis completing that lap, which he obviously did not.

I think you are right, it wasn't a second.

I don't know the exact time, but I very crudely paced the difference between the two by counting at fast steady pace in my head as they started the lap, and then counted it again going onto the back straight before Lewis aborts. I reckon that Lewis lost about 2/3rds of the 'time gap' he had to Rosberg when they immediately crossed the start line.

Nico seemed much more confident than lewis on the brakes and into T1. He was probably in the best position to use lewis as a yardstick.
And then ham lets him past the best way possible for nico, giving him slipstream, while not hurting him with dirty air.

If anyone has a bead on a decent livestream, a PM link would be much obliged, as my country's sports programmers want me to watch the race 12 hours from now.

EDIT: My cup runneth over.

EDIT 2: Since this works so well... If anyone has a bead on a decent sum of cash, a PM link would be much obliged, as I've been contacted by a Nigerian prince who's in desperate need of help.

Hamilton says that he made a mistake at turn 4 and Nico got past!!!! His cunning plan to delay Nico failed bigtime!

It's truly shocking seeing the slating & name calling some of you are dishing out towards Hamilton for that "mistake" yesterday, easy for you armchair viewers I guess !!

Anyway, yesterday's circumstances surely made for an interesting qualifying & the race today should be good !!

Providing Hamilton has a good start without incident, and no reliability issues, I can see him winning today. Just hope itsca good battle !!

Did anyone see the skydiving clip on BBC coverage ?

"Mistake"? "...", really? Come on: MISTAKE. Without name calling I must say it puts Monaco qualifying in a different light, he might have abandoned his second run even without yellow flags, who knows?

He didn't hold Nico up, Nico actually gained from the row & then Lewis moved over because his delta was showing much slower, it was a mistake on his part to abort the lap, he should have continued... But based on his delta & the fact the final sector was slow the previous lap that's the judgment call he made.

Nothing more or less, people resorting to calling him dirty & stupid are a disgrace.
