Barrier is destroyed, I think it might be a while before they can restart
In my opinion that barrier is unsafe even if repaired. That was big shunt but not a huge one and the car went through it like a piss through the snow!

I'm amazed he could squeeze out out between the barrier and halo so quickly

Wow. Looks like the nose of the car was stronger than the barrier (what a joke). He didn't even hit it head on. The halo saved his life for sure. Wow

Holy ---, thank god he makes it out alive. You see that gulf of flames...

The monocoque is embedded in the barrier!

The Halo is great.
Sure is, well worth the 30plus kg it added to the car, now they need to improve the side impact strength of the cars.

Wow, Grosjean actually went through the barrier. He jumped back over it onto the track to get away from the flames.
Yeah. Holy ---.

that was quite an impact indeed...

Any idea what the order will be like for the re-start? I guess they go back to the original one? Usually at the red flag, they go back to the order from the lap before

Strange angle and a piercing...then prying of the barrier...car then wrenched/cut in half. HALO and super human efforts of Gros to extricate himself saved his life!!!

Careful with the analysis, it's never as monocausal as you think. It could equally have been that a less absorbing barrier resulted in catastrophic lower leg injuries....

I am amazed and upset by the images of this accident, I thought I would have seen another F1 driver die after seeing that car wreckage. Thank goodness for the advancements in F1 and the Halo, I did complain about it when introduced all them arguments are well and truly disproved now.

There are some suspect parts of the circuit, that isn't part of the track and that armco barrier is for a service road.

I'm glad he survived.

Brundle just said it, that car slowed to a stop in an awfully short distance, hopefully there's no major internal issues..

Thank God that Kvyat didn't follow him into the barrier, they both could have been fatally injured.
