FIA cost cap rules define cost of parts purchased with added "notional" cost of development. You might buy a front suspension for just $100 dollars, but FIA cost accounting takes it as $1 million dollars. If a team develops itself, then it might cost $500k dollars and FIA is ok with that. It's just an example. Buying parts comes with "customer penalty".diffuser wrote: ↑29 Jun 2023, 00:09
I don't know the country rules, nor am I and accountant, but there might be savings in how you can expense the purchasing of something rather than paying your own employees to do it. I really do think that it's more about finding a way to keep their best employees working on what they want to do, instead of sending them off to work on boats. Then loosing them to other teams(Rob Marshall) cause that's not what they want to do.
Just a thought ...you can start a company that would just manufacture Carbon fibre parts. The Company Like RBR and STR is owned by RB. All it does is make Carbon Fibre parts for Both RBR and STR.
OK, I didn't know that.mendis wrote: ↑29 Jun 2023, 03:45FIA cost cap rules define cost of parts purchased with added "notional" cost of development. “Well, it’s still very early days, you know, for next year, and I think that Daniel is under contract for the year,” Horner told reporters in Austria when asked if Ricciardo could find himself at AlphaTauri next season.
“He’s going to be driving our car for the first time after the British Grand Prix [as part of a three-day test] and he’s obviously a world-class driver. He’s won what, seven [eight, sic] grands prix in his career to date?
“So I think the first thing will be to see how he performs and where his motivation is, and then from there, it’s a question for AlphaTauri as to, you know, their choices for the following season.”
Asked by Autosport to assess his first laps aboard the revised AT04, Tsunoda said: “So far, we can't see the results that we are improving massively.Wouter wrote: ↑07 Jul 2023, 12:11This weekend for the Silverstone GP:

Oh dear, last in the race, but the upgrades did what was expected. I hope this track was particularly bad for Alpha Tauri, and also that the next updates are somewhat miraculous. Hard work being a fan at the moment. The aero update we have introduced here appears to be broadly in line with expectations, but it has not been enough to move us forward in Silverstone. The further planned aero update for Hungary will be an important step to start addressing this, to get back on track towards achieving our objectives.
Underdogs are going to cycle. AMR and McLaren and even Williams are just bubbling up now.bigblue wrote: ↑09 Jul 2023, 19:32Alpha Tauri post-race comments

Daniel Ricciardo is set to replace Nyck de Vries after the summer break, as per F1-Insider sources
The rest of the season would be about comparing Tsunoda and Ricciardo.
