The F2012 undercut is not as pronounced as the McLaren for instance. And the sides of the sidepods don't differ much if at all from the MP4-27 except for the exhaust solution.ringo wrote:
this undercut is one of the main problems too. What are they thinking...
Most defintely an area where low pressure will develope. Sidepods prefer vertical surfaces or ones that draft inward from the root.
this one drafts outward, which is a formula for lifting. Deep undercuts on sidepods is yesterday's news.
They need to get rid of this. Reclaim some of the floor area and make the side pod wall vertical, then lose the acer duct, and thicken the floor. Should be fine after that.
Oh, I love how everybody jumps and points fingers to this or that after Q and the car didn't change at all after third test.Crucial_Xtreme wrote:BBC's Gary Anderson on what's technically wrong with the F2012
Pat Fry said that they will continue working on their launch spec configuration and the design will be ready for the test at Mugello in May. Which means they will still have the famous ACER ducts and that exposed floor area. IF they haven't changed their plans already.MuseF1 wrote:Yes back to the F2012... I think that the bulky bodywork around the exhaust cuts off or disrupts much flow to the coke bottle/beam wing area. How soon do you guys think Ferrari could implement a tidier solution like the RBR spec 1 or Sauber exhaust + bodywork?
anyone? or are we still bickering?Oneshortplanck wrote:ringo wrote:

and also forgiveme if i am wrong, but isnt it slot gap that that is regulated...
so would it be legal for the main wing to move aswell as the upper wing during DRS activation?
if so, would there be any advantage?

I fear "knee jerks" from Montezemolo: Domenicali, Massa, Fry? One or more will need to be sacrificed to placate fans, sponsors, and media. Byrne may be persuaded to play a central role. I still feel Ascanelli will join the team in the next 6-12 months.

Does anyone know when ferrari plan any more upgrades for their car? Will they have to wait until Europe ?
Under this current performance by the time they arrive in Spain they will be so behind the main teams that it will be difficult to catch up.Owen.C93 wrote:Spain.NathanOlder wrote:[...]

McLaren has a long history of having the arguably the fastest developing team and Ferrari since lost the private testing is not that fast as Macca. So I don't think is fair to compare it to MClaren. As far as i have seen in the past years if they don't get a good car since the beginning of the championship is hard for them to have a fast development. Don't get me wrong they are a great team and eventually they have always been in the fight until the last races but my point is that they are not that fast in the development.Pup wrote:McLaren were this far back in '09 and ended up making quite a show of things the latter part of the season.
If McLaren's speed is what it seems, then a championship may be a far stretch for Ferrari, sure. But as tight as things are among Merc, Red Bull and Lotus? 2nd isn't a pipe dream.
How's that Don, imagine Montezuma, Gascoyne and Lauda the advisor, sparks would fly, such a shame that Eddie Irvine has come of age, or we could have seen some serious fireworks in the pits?! Nothing for the faint-hearted to behold.donskar wrote:Hmmmmmmmmmmmm . . . .Surely a marriage made in Hell!xpensive wrote: ...
