It is still a 5 element wing, they curve back and upward.

I'm not so sure i believe that. I can't see what benefit adding an aerodynamic appendage in the location would give, not to mention the image is to small to see any real detail. It could easily be a reflection, or some other anomaly.
Perhaps they wrapped the front tighter and the bulge covers the crash structure tubes.

New sidepods are definitely much more streamlined... you can see the width difference in the hot air exits and how much less the sidepod curves to the right towards the exhaust outlet. The mounting point near the inlet could be for the existing flow conditioner they have had all along, or maybe it's for some new barge boards?? They don't appear to be sitting still in the development race...

Nope, you have a fence post error – 5 slots. There are 5 gaps between 6 fence posts.
