McLaren MP4-29 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

According to Omnicorse, at Silverstone, Mclaren is using very small rear brake ducts to increase the aerodyanamic efficiency. They are smaller than what we have seen in Austria and may be part the new aero concept of the car under the guidance of Guillaume Cattelani

Edit: they are runing smaller rear brake discs with redesigned brake ducts.

nice to see their pragmatic approach, rb introduced this floor cut not like time ago and the "new mclaren" just copies it

From the pictures it seems a bit smaller. But it can also be deceiving due to angle of the photo and curvature of the side pods. However the rear exhaust tubes also seem to be shrinked a bit.

I was expecting radiators to be positioned differently :(

I'd blame it on your imagination (and reflections)

The new style cut outs in the floor are much more interesting than the strake. :))

I agree.

The change in strake looks nothing more then an optimization. Cutting out floor area is a whole different matter. Mclaren has a history in this, mostly a bad one.
