Mercedes AMG F1 W05

Can anyone tell me what the round bulges are on the outside of the floor infront of the read wheels? I know they're nothing new and I've seen them on other cars before. There's a blatant channel for guiding air right behind them, so are they an exit hole for some airflow? If so where does it come from?
A quite dated article, but I think this answers what you are asking, or are you refering to something else?

Infrared tire sensors. They are the simplest ones, looking at a single band. This direction, as it is obvious, is looking at the tire's inner shoulder.

Ah, those, indeed infrared sensors
If I'm not mistaken they have them on the FW for the front tyres as well:

Look how big the gap is under the side pod outlets, it looks like they are using the outlets to separate the airflow around the sidepod from the one over it. I wonder if this is something they learned from the Coanda era, that helps them get a clean airflow to the diffuser.

I know there's a continued hard on for the rear end of the Red Bull, but I think the Mercedes is the more elegant solution and has better airflow over the diffuser. They clearly have tighter packaging and better internal airflow than the RB as well. That car really is beautifully detailed.

The front wing and rear radiator cooling exits are amazing. The front wing in particular is just beautiful. The extra airfoil flip up on the inside of the endplate is really fantastic, helps turn the flow higher over the front tires.

If you wonder how big the F1 W05 Hybrid battery is, this is the battery cover removed from the chassis bottom...

It looks only slightly bigger than the KERS battery from 2009... but sure as hell packs a whole lot more energy!

Those areas of the exhausts acts like a sort of beam wing or at least a down-force generators?

Looks like RB10 has a narrow coke bottle or it`s just W05 radiator exhausts a little bit wider and hiders the area underneath it?

RB10 has a larger footprint at the base of the side, and yes, the merc side pod top extends for longer making it seem wider. I think if you look from another angle the Merc has the tightest rear of all, especially around the gearbox housing.

The RB10 side pods are also slightly taller.

The RB10 is also slightly longer making it appear to taper earlier when in fact the gearbox is longer creating the illusion.

Since Merc have officially added "Hybrid" to the name of the car, should we add it to this thread's title? ;)
