I believe vetted has a spare set too – as I understand it, his first run in Q3 was done on the same tyres as used in Q2.

Yeah; that was actually rather smart IMO. Ever since China when Lewis introduced the one-shot-kill qualifying again; I was wondering how long it would take for them to just reuse an old set.

It seems that this isnt the case, unless Vettel is telling BS to the reporter.

SV: I don’t think that this has a huge significance for tomorrow’s race. He was the only one who really did it, even though that was also on our mind for one moment but we then dismissed it. I think we are well positioned having tyres that all did a bit of track time.

The weather forecast in accuweather has been updated, with no rain expected during the day.

I think it's best to wait until the race and see if it rained at any point before that :P

McLaren will spank Red Bull in the race. If Hamilton and/or Button stay in front of Alonso after the first lap then Vettel is done for the win. McLaren has consistently pressured RB in the race if they are within 0.5 or even 1.0 seconds in qualy. Now they are within a couple tenths. The McLaren is so good that even Button is within a couple tenths.

Vettel has the championship locked up (and he earned it so fair enough!!), but the wins are largely gone now. McLaren will bag several.

Here's proof of what I said earlier that JB did in fact impede Webbers warm up lap (from Adam Cooper): http://adamcooperf1.com/2011/07/30/mark ... o-work-on/

I do preety well understand F1 and i know that (as Webber knows that too) u leave your self space if u want to warm up your tires or better yet the team gives u that space when they release you to the track. You know that ur car needs some space and speed to get to temp and yet you release your driver behind a McLaren that is just rolling and got no obligation to let u pass...

Besides JB i think the DRS and Kers malfunction combined with Webber's mentality/rythm was the real issue that make him fall that back in the order.Moments after he got out of the car he said that he couldnt touch the 1:19's even with a clear lap.

I watched JB dawdle around the track on my iPad app, webber was well behind him when he started his warm up lap and when he caught him JB actively blocked webber from getting by him, frankly thats just un sporting IMO!

I think there will be a big importance on the start for the rest of the race, more so than others because all of the teams are relatively well interspersed.

I feel that, with the clean side, Vettel, Button, and Alonso will due pretty well across the line, with Button and Massa sliding behind their respective teammmates. For Webber though, I have a strong feeling he's going to have another poor start and lose position to Nico Rosberg - for however brief that time may be. With that starting line-up, Button won't have the aggressive pace to pressure Hamilton, leaving Hamilton free to pressure Vettel, pushing him down. Alonso should definitely bring the battle to Button while Massa will most likely be able to stall Webber and Nico to the point where neither can challenge the top three. While my handle may wish - nay, DEMAND - otherwise, I'm going to have to finish this gp with:

1. Hamilton
2. Vettel
3. Alonso
4. Button
5. Massa
6. Webber
7. Rosberg
8. Sutil
9. Perez (wishful thinking)
10. Kobayashi (wishful thinking)

It is really unfortunate to see Webber fall so far from last year, but with his track record, he's not looking at any good times this Sunday.

Maybe but you blame JB for un-sportsmanship in the same time when we read that MW would do the same in that occasion...
Mark Webber wrote:We need more pace than that. I couldn’t go any quicker, because JB wouldn’t let me pass. Which is fair enough, that’s all fair game, I don’t have a problem with that. I’d do the same thing if I had to do an out lap like that.
