Think the wheelbase is shorter, the back of the car does nok look as long as the W08.
Sidepods strangely looks fatter

The engine cover is clearly different and from the comparison above it does definitely look shorter. Ultimately all they needed to do was address their weaknesses on the tighter tracks and balance that with their clear dominance on the power dominant/sweeping tracks. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

But from an unveiling point of view, it is less interesting because it’s basically the same.

The Mercedes had the fastest car last year, a car that was mechanically seriously hampered. One has to guess how much more pace they had in the car if they didn't have the mechanical issues. It comes as no surprise that the car would be fairly similar to last years.

Also, lot of the parts will change. Mercedes is the team to beat so I can imagine they wouldn't want to show their hand on day one.

Its probably very fast and the sensible thing was always to make small changes to the last car.

But I was really hoping for something visually special like Ferrari side pods or something.

That said.... The Ferrari might not have Ferrari side pods when its launched today

That T wing certainly doesn't look like Williams'. Its tiny.
The bargeboards/turning vanes area...damn....
