Wolff buys shares in Aston Martin

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/wolf ... n/4782007/

Where there's smoke there's fire! What now for Mercedes? Maybe a future role for Wolff in Aston Martin just like Mercedes!

Aston Martin is going to become the next Mercedes in 3-5 years...and that's when Mercedes itself will pullout and only carry on as an engine supplier!
Mercedes have all the numbers i don't suppose they're going anywhere, they just need a new TP in a year or two. When they stopped being an engine supplier they discovered having their own team saved money as well as being 1000x more effective for promotion

Toto started in turnarounds and buyouts didn't he, mergers and acquisitions, and Aston Martin is a pretty challenging one for that i bet he can't resist. Mercedes will be buying his shares in the F1 team back at the end of the year i think, so he'll have another 300 mil to do something with

Aston Martin use Mercedes-derived engines in their road cars. Let's not jump to conclusions about the Mercedes F1 team's future based on how Toto spreads his cash around.

'Aston Martin going to become next Mercedes in 3-5 years time?' wish them luck with that.

Exactly Toto is investing in Aston Martin the company rather than Racing Point/future Aston Martin Racing.
Does Toto hold any stock in Mercedes the parent company? I believe he's 33% partner in the F1 team, but i'm not sure if he has any ties to Mercedes corporate.

yes i've wondered about this. My best guess, totally tentative, is Ola when he intervened over the Ferrari fuel saga and completely reversed what Toto was doing. i don't think there are many other people Toto wouldn't just get even with, instead of mad

After a reported STG 37 million worth of investment into a sports car manufacturer competing for a segment of the market that the company he is supposed to represent competes in he comes out guns blazing:- ‘I am somewhat surprised by the turn of events over the winter and by the behaviour of individual people’. That leaves no doubt as to the individual he was referring too.

I think Ferrari are well within their rights to oppose that when he has shares in their biggest rival.

He owned shares at Williams when he moved to Mercedes, and no one had a problem with that............

Jean Todt had shares and other interests in Ferrari one month prior to being head of the FIA. But in all cases these shares/positions can be given up prior to any appointments -> no conflict.

He'll just sell or blind trust any shares that Ferrari think are conflicting interests. Wouldn't want Ferrari upset, would we?

wrong he had to sell them shortly after he bought them, Toto isn't going anywhere this is just an investment and he can because there is no conflict of interest.

AM isn't a racing team by themselves like Williams is, and AM cars has AMG engine in them
