John Barnard messed up with the interpretation of the side-protection rules Roland, when he took them literally.

As for the questions, perhaps I have misunderstood things here, but if are just going to pick a race from our favourite driver's career and ask when he won with what margin, this will be most un-inspiring for the rest, no?

Not to mention UGLY!
I quite like the first variant (with low nose), but the second one (pelican) is indeed horridly looking!

We have had all sorts of questions, mainly from race statistics of champions. There were very few picture riddles which I appreciate, as we are not all buyers of historic books. We had questions about race tracks from Ciro if I remember right and stuff from the Senna/Berger pranks.

So the scope is pretty wide and everybody should find something to suit himself. It just makes no sense to pick something that takes a week to figure out because it is so obscure.

OK, this race was looking very good for this young team, but both cars retired.
Next race this team would have a different driver, making it a third race in a row with different driver pairing.
Name the team and the race.

Spyker, European GP 2007.

Better than leading?
I'm going to have to do some thinking (I may be some time!)

Umm, I guess nobody expected Winkelhock to win? Besides, both cars were dead last in Qualifying.

PS the team in question was brand new for F1 that year (not a rebadged version).

I'm only making a fuss because I can't think of anyone else, don't mind me.

Then it is probably Jordan and the race was Spa 1991. They had Gachot, Schumacher, Moreno in the second car for Hungary, Belgium and Italy. Gachot had attacked a taxi driver in England I believe and was arrested. Schumacher got the seat for one race because his manager (Willi Weber) told Eddie that he knew the track very well. In fact Schumacher had only driven it with a bicycle. He was eighth fastest in his first F1 qualifying session on a track he had never raced at before. At that time they qualified with low fuel and raced without refueling. Schumacher was fourth fastest in the morning warm-up but his race lasted as far as the first corner where his clutch failed. The next race Schumacher had already been pinched by Briatore in a very dubious move that was only possible because Bernie supported it. I believe this incident later lead to the installation of the driver contract recognition board in Geneva.

Right, with a small correction - Schumacher was 7th. But that race looked bright for Jordan not only because of his success in Qualifying, Andrea de Cesaris ran 2nd with only three laps to go, after overtaking Piquet's Benetton at lap 31! Had he finished that would be Jordan's first podium.
