ALO is the slowest car, depressing! After the pit stop they should just retire the car to save components. Team 1/5, driver 1/5 today (when even STR makes the better job the whole weekend).
Still a long race he is going for 1 stop, he needs to drive with a stiff car and with brake issue, what do u want him to do ?

If we score 1 point is a miracle with that car.
No strategy will help you, if you are just slow. If you have no chance the last 10-20 laps, just retire in my opinion.

It is exactly the opposite in F1, when you have a slow car, your only chance is having a good strategy to maximize the potential. Starting P15 the best scenario is finishing in the points.

I still hear race setups, qualifying setups, etc. The truth is one and that's it: if a car is slow in qualifying it is also slow in the race and can only benefit from it due to the demerits of others. End of the discussion

P9 after all the difficulties this weekend is a very good [edit: damage limitation] result.

Calm before dooming... Two points salvaged

An excellent result? Go write it in the Redbull Mercedes and McLaren forums and see what they reply to you. There is nothing positive to take from this race.

Yes I know everyone who is not first is a loser, I agree with that. My point is with the car at the moment and all the difficulties this weekend (hopefully Imola goes much better), two points salvaged is not bad.

P6 to 8 would have been the max even with good qualy position.

Just gotta hope imola updates are good.

Alonso is way quicker than Russell since he got into clean air

According to your first comment, they should just retire the car LOL... that's not Formula 1. We know since Bahrain that the car was slow but you cannot just retire. You try to get as much points as you can and you keep trying all the set-ups to to improve the car.

I don't they think they ran all their upgrades they brought this weekend. They said they might not cause of the sprint weekend. I looked and never saw the single plane beam wing in pictures. The other thing is they rarely bring more than 1 part per driver of upgrades. So maybe they put the parts on after the sprint accident? or they were both lost in the sprint accident.

Alonso was pretty fast on the Mediums, he couldn't get any of the other tires to work...

If you're had deg issues, wouldn't it get worse in this heat ?

Alonso asked for .3 more front wing prior to the tire swap. I presume that helped his pace ....

The brake peddle thing seem to be tied to the Hard tires causing lots of vibration. It went away when the changed to the mediums....maybe the hards where flat spotted or not balanced ? not sure ...

Now, it is true that Imola needs to be much better and the updates have got to work. It could be the defining moment of the season. If they don't work then I will join the doomers.

Stopping everything to focus of the following year never worked for any team in the past 20 years.
They need to do what McLaren did: deliver multiple big/medium upgrades that bring actual performance.

So far Aston Martin made a gigantic step in between 2022-23 and essentially stopped there.

However, knowing that Stroll Sr. seriously attempted to poach James Allison from Mercedes this winter, I am starting to suspect the current technical department at Aston Martin isn't complete enough to deliver what is needed.
Hopefully Stroll Sr. can poach the right person for the job.
