yeah I have the same view here, colder track caught LEC off guard and the car has sacrificed quali for race pace. Downforce still isn't there though because Max could go flat through S3 while Ferrari just couldn't.

I’m going to indulge in some classic clutching at straws:

The car looks less close to the pace of Max in quali and as if it may be struggling to generate heat in colder temps (which would remove their key quali strength). Jock Clear spoke previously about how they might have to start compromising quali for race pace and perhaps with the new package this is what has happened? Not that they would suddenly have RB race pace but it would be interesting to see if the quali gap (half a second) is now also now the race pace gap?

Before they were, say, a tenth or two off in quali but a second away in the race.
They will be a second off in the race as well

Having a hard time believing that seeing that this morning with cooler temps and greener and damper track when they got slicks on Charles was arguably the quickest on track with the most confidence to push. He even radioed at the end that he felt happy with the car.

Can't see cold tires making him as slow as a williams. Tomorrow should answer a lot.

He made comments in FP3 (which was changeable conditions) that even though it was still damp, track was super grippy and ready for slicks, so I doubt it was a tyre temp thing. Even on his poorest days, LEC isn't this poor. Said the car was undrivable in left hand corners, I'm going to be inclined to agree with him until proven otherwise.

Something wrong with right rear when the car was turning left. Could be something wrong with ARB? Unacceptable in any case...

Leclerc: "I'd be very surprised if the car was right. There was something wrong. When I was making left turns, there was something wrong with the right rear."
AeroGimli.x

And they call it a stall. A STALL!

The fact that the problem seems only to occure in left turns points rather to suspension or differential.

At the end of FP3 he reported on the radio a weird noise coming from the back of the car and asked for a check. From the pit they instantly replied it was all good...apparently not. I suspect some differential trouble.

I find it very hard to believe that Charles was at fault for this horrendous qualy. That being said i also find it very hard to believe how the car developed a problem between fp3 and qualy. He never went off track as i can remember in fp3.

There is no reason to believe he was only 0.3s faster than in FP3 considering the improved conditons and turned up PU (+8 kph main straight). Also going off isn't the only way for parts to break/fail.

What the hell is this?

He almost lost the car at like 50 km/h with minimal wheel angle? What is going on here?

Lots of drivers had that issue at the same corner. Ham, Alonso had big snaps there which cost them lots of time in Q3

Nyck also span twice there at the same spot. There was a damp patch where water was draining that never seemed to clear up. It's not about steering input but applying throttle too hard with the loss of traction over the damp patch
