Which team bosses aren't at Suzuka this weekend? Just been watching start of Sky's Ted's Notebook and said getting into Japan is still quite tightly controlled in terms of vaccinations and visas. Im sure I heard some rumours some bosses were not going due to the 'budget cap'. Which as a excuse seems very odd, considering they all use private planes to get around,
Perhaps some bosses are keen to stick within the budget cap limits...
Budget aint a problem is it really! ha!

Travel costs are outside the cost cap for this year anyhow so literally makes no sense for anything budget related.

the benefit of the F1 Team, together with all travel and accommodation costs in
respect of each F1 Driver;

In accuweather it shows rain at 4pm so maybe it will be dry at least at the start.
Looming heavy rain 🌧️☔ will have quite an impact on pitstop strategy.
As it might result in long run under vsc or even a red flagged GP.
Exciting times!

I don't think the budget cap reason has anything to do with ticket prices.... hehe.
They are at base preparing for the budget gate bomb to drop.

Definitely not waking up early for this one... I'll just catch the F1TV stream from the beginning so I can fast-forward when needed, after I wake up!😅

iirc Wolff just wanted to stay home (for whatever reason) and the connection to the budget cap was that there were articles/rumours that he would come to Japan depending on the outcome of the audit, since it was moved he's not there as planned.

Wouldnt be the first time they been spotted having a little 'meeting'. Perfect time really considering all the focus is on the race in Japan, and likely Max taking the title if things go well.

(but thats the last of any budgeting talks in the race thread - we will wait for the cost cap thread to be re-opened to discuss that - hopefully in time for monday)

Huge thank you for those videos. Yours are the only ones posted that have actually played for my device. Thank you. Forwarded to friends.

As I watch Charles drive that brick house stable Ferrari I still can’t believe he didn’t take it this year. Tragic. That car is absolutely fantastic.

The Alpine looked great. Great job Ocon. Fred is going to have a good time for the last few races with that new floor. Begging the racing gods to put him on a podium before the year is over.

Merc looked its usual pig self. Slow as molasses in January and sluggish to drive imo. Lewis didn’t even see 300 going into spoon. 😳 wow. They have their work cut out for them next year. They are starting over certainly. That thing is absolute garbage.
Watching F1 since 1986.

Persistent rain. Expecting a wet start. Nowhere near as bad as Singapore

With the abrasive surface, will that allow rain to be easily removed off the racing line, or will it allow the rain to pool in the rough surface?

There won't be any slick running, inters to wets, though maybe inters the entire race according to Mario Isola. This is not a surprise though, it was expected to be a wet race. Wind will probably kick up in the middle or toward the end. In 2019 there was no rain but it was extremely windy. Hoping Max has a clean race, Yuki too.

Spicy start.

Great start from max sending it round outside of Charles at turn 1.

Perez got a blinder too.

Sainz out
