I'm not sure, but considering the disparity in the running order for this practice session it just might have something to do with it.

I don't really think so though. Ferrari weren't doing a normal Friday program, they were doing aero tests. They were even doing a constant speed/velocity test at one point, or whatever it's called

True, their twitter account mentions the multiple aero changes.

And on top of that I have no idea which compounds were used for the quickest laps of each driver.

The Red Bull's just showed their cars and laid down times ~1 second quicker than Schumacher's.

Webber - 1:36.876
Vettel - 1:37.090
Schumacher - 1:38:088

This when Vettel was outside of the top ten, then all of a sudden turned up the speed. Scary.

Good to see the big teams' "No 2" drivers ahead of their team mates:
Webber faster than Vettel,
Button faster than Hamilton,
Massa faster than Alonso,
(do you understand?)
And...Schumacher faster than Rosberg!

FP2 was a lot closer.

I guess Ferrari were still using the test tires then? Pfff.

Webber really seems to have his car sorted as when be set that laptime he really threw it around in that last sector and the car just kept giving him what he wanted! :)

Both Mclaren was ahead of the RBR during Australia FP2, so cant really read much into the time at the moment. Hope it will be close.

Latest Ian Fergusson weather tweet giving % chances of rain:
Dry conditions will continue into Free Practice 2. Saturday's shower potential remains 45%, but higher post-quali. Race day still >80%.

Other people have pointed out that if Red Bull chose to use KERS in Australia, they will suffer much higher tyre degradation. Already, McLaren with KERS suffered less severe tyre degradation than Red Bull without KERS. If Red Bull chooses to use KERS in Malaysia, it may hurt their pace in the longer run.
Caito wrote: Sorry for the OT but this comment reminded me of a Fangio story. It seems he was having vibrational issues with his car. He adressed the problem to the team and the next day(race day) the problem was solved. Fangio thanked the whole team for the great effort.

Meanwhile, during race, Fangio's partner kept complaining of a vibrating car :p
Are you suggesting that Red Bull swaps chassis between Vettel and Webber? Webber is using Kinky Kylie to post fast laptime in Sepang, while Vettel is having setup issues with Webber's previous chassis. Wow, a great idea you have there!

Anyone knows how the weather was at 4pm at the race track? And maybe what it is now?

Thanks in advance!
