Also, the pace compared to McLaren later in the race was concering.
Not gapping them by 20 seconds is not acceptable.
The tire warmup was not optimal for SAI in the last stint, while LEC had a normal warmup for 3 laps before pushing which allowed him to place a good lap at the end on 6 laps older tires.

Pace differential was there but tire warmup was critical, LEC didn't do it in the 2nd stint and his 2nd was bungled, SAI didn't in the 3rd. Otherwise they had pace differential from Merc enough to have similar pace on 6 laps older tires.
Lots of work to do, the way the car warms up its tyre seems finicky.
Some work to do to switch on the tyres for quali yes. But this is about putting heat cycle through the tyres to maximise the longevity of the tyre… Charles came out just in front of Perez and Alonso and needed to push straight away to keep ahead which compromised his laps to put the correct heat cycle through the tyres.

Nothing Finicky about this.

I'm glad all the things many of you were saying about Sainz are immortalized in this thread. 99% of it, complete nonsesnse.

Anyway, had to capitalize on Red Bull's misfortune and Ferrari executed perfectly. I thought Norris would catch Leclerc but he managed his tires extremely well in that last stint. Starting off the year well, hopefully successful developments follow.

Beautifully executed by Sainz and team, that pitstop for Charles almost had me worried. 1-2 is a fantastic result! Hope Sainz isn't feeling too sore after the race.

I must say i am really really happy for Carlos. I allways felt it was a shame he left Mclaren, but it makes me happy that he got himself to winning races in a Ferrari, which is another prestige in his resume.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

I over the moon with this result. I'm incredibly excited to see how this can spur on the team to close the gap. I'm so excited to see what we can do in Imola.

Congrats to Carlos, Charles and Ferrari! Very happy with this one-two. Absolutely spot on strategy by Ferrari to keep the two McLaren behind (this is in hindsight for me, as with the second stint of Leclerc, at the time I was thinking of it as a bad strategy to come in so early). It's amazing to see under Fred, how much things have changed in the strategy front.

4 points away now in the constructors, I hope that constructors championship will be an opportunity this year. The promise is that Ferrari starting with a blank canvas this year will have much larger margin for improvement and actually use it during the year. Let's see. Forza Ferrari!

Looking at some race pace analysis, Charles wasn't actually that far off Sainz in the race. He lost the race win in the qualy. Wonderful result, I think Sainz wins this race even without Max retiring.

"Perfection does not exist, only the evolution towards it." Enzo Ferrari, Il Commendatore 8)

Wonderful job by everyone, Sainz displayed his full potential in a perfect manner, Leclerc did a good job to secure 1-2 in an unexpectedly challenging weekend for him, strategy was executed flawlessly.

Looking forward to Suzuka 8)

Looking at f1 tempo, RB really struggled with deg on both their hard stints. While Ferrari managed the deg well, Charles second stint was compromised because of lack of warm up, however this does make me question if this will be a big advantage for Ferrari at Suzuka where deg is normally very high, as they seem to be the best team deg wise so far this season. I guess it all depends on what improvements RB bring, with rumours of big upgrades coming. And how Ferrari choose to setup, so far having pitched quite conservatively.

Brilliant form Carlos, I'm telling you something, Ferrari must be crazy to release him, do you think there's a chance this decision can be overturned?

Carlos has looked stronger in this car than the previous couple of years IMO, I wouldn't be surprised to see him defeat Leclerc this season, bravo!

Ferrari must be crazy, why on earth would they want to release him, he's driving brilliantly against one of the fastest on the grid. I guess marketing and PR stunts are more appealing?

Congrats to Sainz. If not for the injury he would be ahead of Leclerc in the drivers championship on merit, it's a great season start by him
