Mercedes GP MGP W01

Maybe they have learnt their lesson. Previously, Merc were announcing all sorts of "improvements", most of which bombed! Better now not to say anything, so there are no great expectations!

There will always be issues(sometimes psychological  ) with old chassis.

Flex, wear and tear, the odd banging of wheels etc. Point is I think Mercedes know where they stand with the car. The only problem is I think the W01 is at the mercy of its tyres.
When the tyres start playing funnybuggers, the mercedes will go backwards. If they play ball, they will be behind the front 3 but ahead of the rest.

My feelings exactly.

Couldn't have said it better myself. In fact, I would go one step further with your analogy in that when the tyres and the car are in agreement, it can keep the odd McLaren or Ferrari behind.

I almost grew teary eyed in the Silverstone race when, just as Rosberg got some clear air after Kubica pitted, he immediately got on with it and set the fastest lap of the race up to that point.

It's the kind of plan that just works when the car and driver is up to it and works as one. And on that day, they were. It just warmed of my heart to the point of tears and gave me a lump in my throat.

(why can't I be this romantic with my girlfriend)

Merc are going to struggle as Bridgestone is once again bringing their super soft option tyres. Merc can't qualify on those unless they have found a new solution lately.

so if it is not rainsoaked ..Merc will try to struggle into Q3 and then go for the primes..p9&10..at best. But ok for the race.

How's the track surface?
Maybe if it's the right texture, they may not have problems.
Another consideration is the length of the lap and the heavy braking zones.
Maybe just maybe they can get them to work in qualifying.
For Sure!!

Ear or eyewitness ,myself ..RTL is official F1 broadcaster in Germany and Haug gave this statement to Niki Lauda after the race ...without being under pressure...

Is mercedes problem getting heat into the tyre?

Because as I understand it, the last race that used supersoft(valencia) after qualifying Brawn said he knew what Mercedes would do in future qualifying runs.

They would run 3 flying laps as I understand it.
