How would a front tire rupture affect KERS? please explain further.

They ran these wheel covers through a lot of the testing last year and I thought the general consensus was that they are to measure tyre deflection etc.

I'm pretty sure KERS will run off the back axle... through the drivetrain.

Strategically I think McLaren should have left this trick in the bag until Austrailia... we may see this spread to the other teams very quickly.
This is a blog entry from February 2008: http://fakeferrarinews.wordpress.com/20 ... d_content/

You will see the McLaren wheel fairing also used there. No need to read, just scroll down a bit.

Say goodbye to wheels touching each other during racing. If that happens these things might break first.

Green for no sparks :D

9.9.5 All cars must be fitted with a KERS status light which :
- is in working order throughout the Event even if the main hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical systems
on the car have failed ;
- is located in the same general location s the light required by Article 8.10 ;
- is green only when the system is shut down ;
- remains powered for at least 15 minutes if the car comes to rest with its engine stopped ;
- is marked with a “HIGH VOLTAGE” symbol.
