Post here all non technical related topics about Formula One. This includes race results, discussions, testing analysis etc. TV coverage and other personal questions should be in Off topic chat.

What do you think of the prospect of a USGP 2012 at Austin Texas

Good thinking. Place has good infra structure and nice climate in winter.

Not good as it has no motor sport tradition in the US.

Here are the locations of the additional grandstands, which CotA says are available now...
Yep...At $285 for 11 and $315 for 9
Turn 9 and Turn 11 West will be offered as Grandstand bleacher seating. These two extremely unique turns offer outstanding views of Formula 1 racing!

Turn 9 slopes toward Turn 10 (the second highest elevation) and gives an incredible view of the cars as they speed downhill towards Turn 11.

Turn 11 West is the perfect location to spot overtaking cars as they rush down the hill from Turn 10 at speeds of 180 MPH to take the hairpin Turn 11 before accelerating full throttle down the longest straightaway on the track.

What is the purpose of the pipe frame - already in photo 1 - merely aesthetics ?

Maybe it's part of a package deal with the tower, which is also ugly and relatively useless.

Need T12 Tickets? Hill Country Region Porsche Club of America still has unsold tickets in their allocation, which expires the first week of July. Get em while you can!

First support series is announced...
Historic Grand Prix, a series that features classic Formula One cars raced by private owners, will be a support race during November’s planned F1 race near Austin, circuit officials said today.

The series is the first support race announced for the weekend of Nov. 16 through 18.

Formula One races generally have several support series as part of a full day of events. Other series are possible during race weekend, circuit spokeswoman Ali Putnam said, though she could not say what else was planned.
A friend of mine races in that series in an old Shadow.

How about that Craftsman Truck Series for a support race, to fire up the crowd so to speak?

Amazing, and I mean that, like watching one of those xpensive NYC performing arts things my mistress forces me to see,
where you can behold a tree growing with a picture taken one week at a time, as if it happened in real time.
