Mechanical? CFD? trackside?
I don't know but I can tell you that this butterfly suspension new techonology at the rear of the car isn't devised for them.
Although this team has always like me for his innovative ideas.
In the las 5 or 6 years with the best engines and package this team haven't managed to win any championship. And I don't think in the future can achive nothing really.
Well, maybe I'm wrong as many people here vote me negative, however the results speak for themselves.
This is a transition year for them as in 2015 come into play Honda and they have nothing to loss in the aerodinamic innovative area this year.

But in a further twist, it now appears that Prodromou’s arrival at McLaren is looking less likely to happen as Red Bull Racing have been working hard to get him to stay. The Englishman of Greek Cypriot parentage signed a contract with McLaren last autumn, but Red Bull team boss Christian Horner said at the time that he would not release his man until “at least” the end of his existing agreement with the Milton Keynes squad.

Now, in scenes reminiscent of Ron Dennis persuading Newey not to leave McLaren for Jaguar Racing despite signing a contract to go in the summer of 2001, it seems that Prodromou may stay at Newey’s side.

Contractually he is due to join McLaren at the end of his current contract, but there are indications that Red Bull wants to retain its man. McLaren would probably sue for breach of contract if he did not come to the team, but that is a matter of financial settlement, which Red Bull can well afford.

Red Bull might want him to stay...doesn't mean he will...and as someone on James' page points out...maybe they're suddenly so keen to keep him because another of their top designers is stepping down (aka Newey)...

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Looks like Ross has announced his retirement a couple of days ago...

Whether or not this is to comply with some sort of garden leave arrangement with Mercedes is another matter of course... Let's wait and see.

According to Wikipedia, Honda were spending $300M a year when they decided to leave. That includes engine development, I assume. It's been reported that Merc and Renault have been spending roughly $200m/yr on their engines, so if we assume the same for Honda and add in what they're going to pay McLaren ($67m), then let's say $30m for drivers, and we're right back where they left off.

So the numbers make sense.

I've not seen figures that high quoted before...wow that would be incredible. Is that for the old V8's or the new V6's??

Hard to say, given the dates of the reports. Its possible that they spent much more last year.

Here's the original thread on it...

Honda says it is on course to have its new Formula 1 facility in Milton Keynes fully up and running by June.

The Japanese car manufacturer is returning to F1 as an exclusive partner to McLaren in 2015, with hopes that their reunion can deliver the kind of title success that they enjoyed in the past.

In an update of its motorsport plans that were issued on Friday, Honda said that work was progressing well on ramping up its operations.

As well as having the UK dyno and assembly facilities ready in June, Honda has already relocated its motorsport engine operations in Japan.

A new facility in Sakura City, Tochigi, will now be the central area of its F1 development programme.

Although there were no specific details about the state of readiness of its new V6 turbo engine, Honda indicated that work was moving on, saying: "The company is making steady progress in developing the power unit."

Any rumours on the main sponsor yet?? Even with honda money and a budget surplus going into 2014, it's a wasted year if don't get anything :\

Come on man, it's as valid as any other Honda talk in the thread, and let's be honest will have a huge effect on the team!
