Scuderia Ferrari SF16-H

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Well..... they obviously know what they are doing and im betting they have a good reason for abandoning it.

SF16-H's rear wing support pylon does also intersect with the exhaust

Never doubted that. I was just wondering what their reasoning is.

Guys, it is possible that the sound during a turn (not the curbs), when the car isn't full throttle, is that hte engine is dieseling like some speculated in the last months?

Well, I've thought it was more like a traction controlish sound, how it pulsates going into the corners, like in this video posted by MrG yesterday, and some other videos on the web.

A brief aside...

It's kinda funny to me how SF16-H looks like an evolution of F14 T instead of the followup to SF15-T.

A bit of vindication for Tombazis?

No. Just try that with every current F1 car and paint it red, and you'll notice they all will be very similar regardless. For further discussion about this, please refer to the car comparison topics.

Edit: McMrocks is correct. The lighting caused the piece to look serrated when it was not.

That video is misleading, this is how Merc really sounds like:

It has the similar "tractorish" sound when coming out of turns.

EDIT: time linking didn't work for some reason. Skip to 1:20.

I think the tractoring sound you are hearing in that video is from the Kerbing.
