Just wait for the slimey words from Max about how all the teams are stupid and haven't understood the FIA's rules. They'll force FOTA to go down the legal challenge route, something they would probably back down from.

Unfortunately the FIA is a dictatorship run by a man with absolutely no shame or moral standards.

yes, but this time they may have screwed it up. I read the text from the regulations, and it was pretty clear they cannot do that later than 20 day before the start of the season

Maybe for whatever reason Max would postpone Australian GP?

Yes, the WDC point system is changed as Bernie was not happy that Hamilton won it last year with fewer wins than Massa and it plays straight back into McLaren and Hamilton hands.

They can write off the opening races while they sort out their car and although they will be behind in the constructor championship they will still have a big chance for the WDC, in effect could write off almost half the season and still be in with a shout.

Hopefully in light of the fact that it can not be changed this late in the day we will stick with the exsiting or adopt the FOTA system

hopefully. To change the system, there need to be another meeting, which I doubt they could organize that soon.

If they really want it, they can have the meeting tomorrow. Pretty simple,
'Yo, e'erybody meet up in London's airport for a couple of hours. It's urgent. If you love your life, you'd be there. Let's stick it to Max and Bernie, but not the way Max likes it.'

See? I did that for them.

Max, put down the whip and read the effing rule book!

Potentially a BIG win for FOTA.

They said perhaps for 2010 then, so let's hope they're both dead by then.

MAYBE this will help move Max out. It certainly makes him look bad when BBC says FIA in "disarray."

Luca di M got in a nice shot (see home page).

FAI statement (quoted by ITV)

"On 17 March, the FIA World Motor Sport Council unanimously rejected FOTA’s proposed amendment to the points system for the Formula One drivers’ championship," said an FIA statement.

"The ‘winner takes all’ proposal made by the commercial rights holder (who had been told that the teams were in favour) was then approved.

"If, for any reason, the Formula One teams do not now agree with the new system, its implementation will be deferred until 2010."
....(who had been told that the teams were in favour).....!?!?!?!?!?!?! Give me a break! The teams were never asked, and even if they were in favor, this should have been provided in written form, right? But the reality is, the team suggested the new point systems, and I have never heared there were in favor of the medal system!!! Quite the opposite, the slammed it!

I smell FAI are tryiing to cover up the big screw up

"Disarray"
...
Love that classic British sense of understatement.

If USF1 were in the FOTA the statement would read "pissed the f**k off and ready to pop a cap in Bernie's ancient @$$."

It's FIA's (or Max) beginning of the end i think, at least regarding F1. Teams are becoming closer than ever and they could make a move with uncle Bernie and start an independet championship with their own rules.
