Mercedes AMG F1 W05

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

What are the 2 smaller exhaust pipes running on top of the cylinder banks?
Thank you really doesn't really describe enough what I feel. - Vettel

That is the front of the chassis in that last pic?
What is that coil spring for, as I understood torsion bars are generally used on all four corners ?

It'll be the heave spring looking at it.

Super impressed by the rate of development at Mercedes i have to say. It feels like not only do they have a second advantage on all other teams but they also seem to out-develop all their competitors.

In 2012 i don´t think we would have seen a new floor, sidepod deflectors, new sidepods this late in the season.
They were busy getting to grips with what exhaust solution to run on the cars.

The heave spring normally is installed lengthwise and less heavy duty , not so ? Refer to the Penske PC23 thread in Autosport forums , maybe .

On the rear, maybe, makes little sense on the front to introduce another linkage when your rockers are in the right spot anyway.

what is the (I presume) hydraulic line running to the brake cylinder on the right? (again I presume) the right cylinder is rear brakes? Why a hydraulic line to it during the setup?
