Verstappen was as fast as the Mercedes on the straights. He could do nothing against the Ferrari missiles. But Red Bull had the fastest car in the corners this time, especially in the braking zones of the slow corners. That was not the case for a long time.

Max: "The new parts work. We have generally gained more grip. "

Adrian Newey said: "We have pushed the upgrade of France a second time." Asked for details, the star designer smiled meaningfully. "Look closely at the car. The new parts were only at Max's car. "

The Dissolution: Red Bull brought a new front wing to Spielberg. The flaps rise more outward, the end plates are reshaped. There may also have been a minor correction on the rear wing, as the riders were in free practice several times with FloViz at the back.

In qualifying, only Verstappen enjoyed the new parts. That was due to the many damages on Friday. "We were running out of wings," confirmed Helmut Marko.
Verstappen praised: "We took a good step forward. This can be seen at the distance to the pole position. Honda gave us a bit more power, and in the corners we were really fast. When I drove over the finish line, I had a big grin on my face. "

So, that means that they finally caught the solution for their grip problem??

And from Honda side, they've unleashed more power due to better mapping after the 1st race with the Spec 3?? Or they were conservative with the PU on France and now that all is OK, they went 100%?

They removed the new parts from Gasly to replace the ones Verstappen broke in crash?

No. The FW is new, that was undamaged in the crash. I believe Max also changed FW directly prior to the crash (for A B comparison). Maybe the B was the old wing and the grip change is drastic? Likely the high winds had more to do with that but still, could be :).

I don,t think they went all out but likely they have stepped up. The pressure was really mounting. RBR needs To come closer to the top, not the subtop!

Very nice to be 0.4s of the pole instead of 0.7 last year. Could it be down to tyre temps aswell why RB and Ferrari were competitive against Merc? Or is the step completely down to upgrades?

Top speed of Max looks quite comparable to both Lewis & Bottas but a huge difference to Leclerc. I am sure all of them would have had DRS + Tow so these speeds should be representative. Also read somewhere that Merc had a dial down their engine because of overheating and hence lost about 0.6secs

Like Mexico, Redbull is always doing better at altitude. The thin air seems to be better for their car.

Don’t be supprised if Mercedes shows form again in the UK, at high speed high downforce.

0.6 Mercedes lost to Ferrari because of engine dial down its bit of a stretch, they were loosing by the same margin in Canada Bahrain. Lewis has said Ferrari has mode that they can't match I think the difference can be explained by car design philosophy
