Race sims are the fastest of any team. Leclerc is the fastest of anyone. 3-4 tenths margin on Sainz and almost a second a lap to the Red Bulls.

The improvement over the SF 23 is tremendous, as expected.

Looking back, it looks like it took them until Austin race to dial in the Japan floor setup, maybe even until Mexico. Especially after AD race it didn't feel like they maximised Japan and Qatar races, at least in terms of overall race pace. I don't have any other explanation why the car looks so much better now...

By the looks of it Ferrari had quite a bit of fuel in the tank in their qualifying prep laps while McLaren and Mercedes were lower on fuel. But this shouldn’t be surprising. Not sure about what RBR did to be honest. Max was talking about understeer and set the fastest overall lap without setting any fastest sector times.

Ferrari yet again with a promising race simulation. I hope they will go a bit more aggressive with the setup this time. It’s about time they start trusting the data and start believing that the SF-24 actually is a on a completely different planet on race pace than its predecessor was.

Question regarding the last 3 laps for Lec. Is that him faking deg? It is unlikely that he lost a second all of a sudden

Not sure but you can see the same happen for Sainz after the slow lap.

EDIT:

Different egnine or deployment mode on those 3 laps see top speed difference.

He tried to close on Verstappen ahead and had a snap in S1 while being quite close in dirty air, perhaps his rear tyres never recovered.

Thank you. I only counted up to when RB stopped because otherwise the averages are not comparing stints of the same length. In those first 8 laps, Leclerc is rapid.

Unlike FP1, in FP3 Leclerc was running higher PU mode until last 3 laps when he dialed it down, so it's not deg. Sainz didn't run the higher mode at all (as far as I saw) and both Ferraris were lighter than RBs. Deg looks good on both cars

Sainz definitely did use the higher settings. His trap speeds are in line with Leclerc's.

Last timed lap is on a lower setting, as we saw with Charles.
