A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.
If it's right, I suspect it being lighter is just part of the improvements, the reason they've actually altered it may be different, to match other upgrades.
interesting Eric Boullier interview at FOS , he said they were bringing a 9 element front wing, tighter sidepods, Red Bull diffuser, Merc nose cone and 80bhp and a qualifying mode for Silverstone.

I've read the same on Autosport forum and that was a joke some poster made, it isn't true!
@bhall II: Thanks for the simplified Version .
I understood it in the End, i just had to read over it 2 Times, that's all. No Problems. Didn't mean to criticise, it's fascinating to learn a few bits of the finer Aero Details.

This makes sense, because of the lack of running in Austria there would be no point to skip to the next step of developments in Silverston.
They didn't have a new Floor for Jensons Car they used for testing after Alonso's got a little smashed.
So i guess they salvaged Alonso's Parts and fabricated them onto Jenson's Floor.
Seems like a rush job with the untidy carbon fiber. I expect some more work there this weekend
Is it possible that this is the floor from the Austria test after the GP? Perhaps this floor was cobbled together from Button's floor so that they could at least test the basic concept after Alono's floor was damaged ?!
very interesting article , specially last bit : “We needed some ideas to apply to the combustion layout, and hybrid systems. So we tried very hard and sometimes it is very difficult layout, but we believe that direction is the only way that we can catch up and exceed the top teams.” so far we understand honda woes are related to mguh and mguk now suddenly he starts talking about ICE , what mysteries are the hiding ?.
“A different way is maybe the only way to the podium,” he said. “It is quite a different layout – for instance the MGU-H and turbo is a very compact package, and also with the power unit itself, everything is very tightly packaged for good influence for the aero package.
Also the battery and controller is very, very small with a low centre of gravity for the car – so we contributed to that area too.”

i am happy they are sticking whit axial compressor and and other radical solutions despite current problems,it's tough now but in the future Honda will be the first to challenge Mercedes(Seriously, not shy like Ferrari is doing this year)
