Despite having issues with his Red Bull a long way ahead of the halfway mark of the race, Daniel Ricciardo mastered the conditions and controlled from the front, winning his first Monaco Grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel finished second with Lewis Hamilton completing the podium in third place.
Bottas just said that they are afraid the hyper wont last much beyond 7 laps, which means they wont even survive a 1 stop.
My hunch is they wont be driving full out, trying to push the tires as far as possible. If they have to stop early and drop into traffic, that wont be nice to watch...
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II #Team44 supporter
Top job by Daniel, incredible performance with a great car.
I was expecting more from Kimi. He should have been at least third.
3 hundredths behind Hamilton, and Hamilton probably did a great lap to be there. Kimi has been a couple of 10ths down on Vettel most of the time this weekend, so I'm not surprised he is 4th. He's probably going to fade badly as well (age, tyre deg), so the winner will be in front of Kimi after turn 1 (imo).
Do you think is possible for Vettel to pass Ricciardo at the start? I thing its gonna be nearly impossible.
In 2014 though Seb managed to pass Ricciardo on the start from the dirty side of the track.

Kimi was lucky to be only 3 hundredths behind TBH. He didn't deserve more based on sector times.
I think Ham was just 0.006s slower in S2 alone, overall ahead 0.08s because of purple S1.
Even if he had matched his first run S3, he'd be ahead.
He wouldn't. He lost about 0.13 sec in the last sector while he ended up 2 tenths behind. A tenth improvement in S3 compared to his initial run would have done it though.

Oh, I thought he'd done 19 all flat in S3. Thank you!

Does anybody have a clue on what happened with Haas? I remember people saying they are clearly 4th fastest team here, because of track & hypersofts. I understand losing some pace, but starting dead last it's a whole different thing.

About today I can say, fantastic performance by Daniel, he deserved that one. Crazy pole lap.
Unless someone massively fluffs the start i think they get to T1 in order, it's just too tight to try anything, the leader moves slightly into your line and that's it.
Anyone who reads this, watch the race carefully tomorrow. Every 12 or so laps the tone of the race changes, just notice carefully how there's always developments every 12 laps.
The hypersofts don't go the distance, and neither of the other 2 compounds can go the full race, so a one stop will be tough but it will be the same for everyone. The only thing that could shift it to a 2 stop is the type of incident the race will inevitably have, and the timing. Unless you're going to come out with a 2+ second per lap advantage from new tires then pitting may not be a good strategy, as track position is so critical around here. What makes it tough is that you'll inevitably have to pit on the hypers, so maybe stretching that stint out until an incident occurs is an option, depending on how bad the degradation is.
