Merc just 2 tenths quicker than Hulkenberg ? Hmm..
Shows what level Mercedes are running
The only outlier is Hulkenberg. Could just be a very good lap (also compared to RIC). When both Mercs were ahead in AUS they weren't holding back. It's not that if they are not 1-2 that they are sandbagging.
So Hulk with his skill alone can come 0.2 sec behind the merc when infact the renault is 1.5 sec behind? is that what u r saying? then Hulk will WDC this year =D>

Not saying you’re wrong. But I would be glad, if you could explain me how you came to this “fact”? Isn’t the pecking order still unknown?

OK. First off, Ferrari seems to be back. Over the long runs, Mercedes on an average is around 2 tenths quicker than Ferrari. So, it's game on between the two. Things doesn't look good for RB.
RB probably had the best long run pace, definitely more consistent than either Merc or Ferrari.

Ferrari seems to be in prime position for pole position.
Horner said Max's long run pace looked good as well, they didn't get the most out of the tire operating window and Max didn't put together a clean lap either.
Let's see what set up changes do and if rain and wind gusts affect quali.

"The Ferraris have been quick from the get-go and picked up more pace from there, so it's completely different to what we've seen in Melbourne," said world champion Hamilton.

"We had some issues with the balance of the car, but we made improvements for FP2. At the moment it looks like the Ferraris are ahead, so we have to keep our heads down, keep working, analyse things tonight and try and come back stronger tomorrow.

"I think as we get to qualifying, everything will get a little bit closer, but it is going to be a tough battle."

Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto supported that view, saying he thought the results of Friday practice were "misleading" and that he believed Ferrari had been running their engines more aggressively than Mercedes.

Binotto added that he expects a "very tight battle" with Mercedes in qualifying but did say the team were "progressing" after Australia and they were not suffering from the same problems they had there.

Ferrari's second laps on the same soft sets were not impressive at all.
Hamilton tried the same and set pretty much equal times.

Vettel's fastest lap also not so clear, time lost here and there.

I can't believe the gap is .6s, it should be really close tomorrow.
Hamilton pitted immediately after his FL.

Not if his first go with the softs, I think.

Was wondering how long it would take before one of the Honda teams started blaming their performance on the engine.

May as well have said "GP2 engine, GP2 engine!".

How are manufacturers supposed to protect their brand on the F1 circus? Guess it's why we can't have Porsche, and BMW.

The Ferrari looked on a more aggressive engine mode, exiting low speed turns in a higher gear (3rd vs 2nd).
RB better on slow turns, where the Ferrari understeers but makes up in the fast stuff.
Maybe the Ferrari FW can't generate enough DF in the slow turns?

The Sky commentary is just so poor, particularly Martin Brundle and all that split screen nonsense that distracts even when important things are going on on track..
Its all click bait rubbish, even in FP that is watched by only hardcore F1 fans.
100% agree. Its old and its complete irrelevant where you don't even see any difference just the non-stop voice of Martin is very annoying.

Vettel is consistently late in applying the throttle compared to Max who is applying throttle at apex of corners, even a little bit earlier at faster corners. Vettel is only applying throttle after he has completed the turn...so looks like he is leaving reserve power.
