Piastri's race craft is still far away where it needs to be
The same was true in F2. On a single quick lap he was the best, but in the race his teammate Schwarzman was usually faster or on a par with him

Ferrari simply had a slight edge in race pace today... That's all there is to it.
Lando is faster than Leclerc on the same rubber. There is no need to justify the stupidity of strategists
How and where were we faster than Leclerc?
Look at the timing.

Close with Ferrari but I think also a reality check for us finishing P5 and P8 on a track that suits our characteristics.

Shows just how important the development pipeline will be.

I suppose that is true. The team needs the first upgrade from the new tunnel now more than ever. Both RB and Ferrari got upgrades here.

No, I think from a realistic point of view you cannot say that the pace was not on par with Ferrari.

They were clearly better. On lighter fuel it was closer, but on that second stint Lando was dropping >0.5s per lap to Carlos before they pit him to cover George.

I did. Can you write and describe how your strategy would work and where the time was and how that translates into being ahead of Ferrari.

It was necessary to stay on the track for another 7 laps, and not go with Charles to the pit, then there would be a chance of fighting for 3rd place.

No need to fight over it. The result speaks for itself. On a track that perfectly suits Mclaren the base car couldnt match either the upgraded Red Bull or the upgraded Ferrari.

Agreed. It's not all that complicated, the car just needs to get better.

Problem being it was on par when the ferrari was on very old mediums. That was the issue.

Accidental double negative, but I meant to say that Ferrari had the advantage.

So, based on you having zero data and just guessing. Where would Leclerc likely be in comparison after those 7 laps, same with Russell and Hamilton?

Nice, being constructive will get you listened to vs being ignored. try this approach in future and people will listen to you and think about what you are saying.

I don't think you are right, but it isn't certain, we can look at the data later to see. It would have been a tough ask to catch Leclerc with this strategy with still no chance of being in front of Sainz. But we can look at the data after the race rather than haggle about opinions.

Instead of just being offensive, which makes most people disregard you because they think you aren't intelligent enough to explain yourself, explain your opinion constructively.
