It is not setup. The car is slow RELATIVELY. It has improved no doubt but everyone has taken a bigger step relatively. with these regulations being still green, there are chunks of time available and it is not going to be easy to out develop other teams. Just imagine tomorrow with the straight line speed deficit. without some fortune tomorrow is going to be a massacre.

A new milestone in the history of McLaren. The two cars out in Q1.

3 teams made minor changes from last weekend. Teams haven't made changes to move ahead in that time.

It can only be track conditions and setup.

Out qualified by an Alpha, Alfa, Williams. We are effectively the slowest car on the grid this weekend.

Only positive is that Piastri was very close to Norris.

Weren't they supposed to bring a big update to Baku that would fix the car?

Correct! They tried to make a resonable F1 car, not speaking about wins or podiums, a car with P4 target in Constructors Championship...and this didn't work. McL60 is a crap!!

They did, and it worked. But I don't think anyone said it would fix the car. But that it would start to fix the car. And they qualified in top 10 with both cars.

Sorry but what exactly was that meant to be?

Did they revert to Bahrain spec for fun or is the senior management just having a laugh while they parade the unbearable James cordon around the pits.

Would like someone to press Stella for an answer that doesn’t just amount to the usual PR “well try better next time” and actually explains which person made such a galacticly stupid setup choice, and that they will be fired with the hour.

Going from best of the rest to stone dead last is utterly unacceptable and cannot be down simply to track differences

So explain to me which monkey they let screw with the cars this weekend to produce this utter mess

Truly miss the days when McLaren performing like this in a race weekend would have led to a pink slip for half the factory as a warning notice to do better immediately or face the consequences

No idea what happened. It was looking good yesterday. Maybe they tried to push on something for more straight-line speed, and it hasn't worked. Could be anything.

Might be worth doign a hulkenberg and starting both cars from pit lane after a significant set up change, might aswell Park both cars in the fake marina for all the chance they have of scoring points with this setup
