Looks like reverting to old floor is helping the race pace..another wrong development cycle ?

Race runs looked OK, from what I was seeing on the timing app.

Laps hovering around the low 26’s with Sainz on M and high 25’s with Leclerc on S.

Slower but not too much different from the RB’s. No massive tire deg I could see but its only practice.
Ferrari main issue in Zandvoort was that the car became slower relative to MB and RB througth the race as fuel decreased more and more. We don't know, from this session, if that particular issue won't appear here as well. Moreover, Sainz was around 0.4s slower than Max on mediums which is quite significant.
Not expecting either car to beat Max, just that they aren't nearly as far as they were in Spa where even Perez was miles away.

Either way, sounds like the drivers are happy.

They were using the new one in FP2.

Yeah, strange indeed. They're also behind on race pace.

Very suspect, weren’t they similarly optimistic last weekend to challenge Max?. Then that challenge fell to one side very quickly.

Maybe they’re just trying to keep the hopes of the Tifosi alive… their single lap pace looked solid enough, but come the race, even with an expected grid penalty coming from Max, he’s surely the favourite to win still with the race pace and top speed of the Red Bull.

If Mercedes’ find a bit of a solution to their clipping issues, their battle will be closer with them (Russell), let alone Max and potentially Perez.

I don't understand this team. Why in the blue hell they didn't use Sainz to do a lot of long runs? Why ??
Between the top teams, Ferrari pretty much didn't do any serious long run.

Come Onnn...Yesss .
CL16 - P1.

1st Ferrari driver since MSC (2004) to get 8 Poles in a season. Sounds good.

That’s how it’s done! Wonder if it’ll eat it’s tyres tomorrow or if we’re legitimately in this one. Would be absolutely fantastic for morale to win at home. Probably the most we can hope for this year with the championships looking out of touch. BRING IT HOME BABYYYY

They literally only ran the old floor for half of Fp1 on only Sainz's car. It's been the post-france floor on Leclerc's car all weekend, and on Sainz's car from Fp2 onwards

It is strange to see Ferrari is fast again in front of the home crowd...you can't recover half a second in one race ...this is my theory...Ferrari has been running their engine conservattly due to reliability issue and here they ve released the full beans...expect to go bk behind redbull again from next race..
