Looks like they're testing two versions SPLEF (SidePod Leading Edge Flip-ups) around the sidepod inlet at the same time. By the way I strongly doubt the longitudinal cuts at front half of the bargeboard footplate are used to counter incoming flow from the outside to the inner surface of the bargeboard, in order not to let air rush in through the gap between the footplate and ground. The bargeboards create strong suction when placed too close to the ground, generating upwash right under the monocoque, which is not ideal. As a result, if you could generate some outwash around this area, creating a strong boundary condition to counter the incoming flow, it will probably form an effective seal and thus is an effective solution. Working on Formula SAE diffusers and trying to counter act inwash generated by parts in front of the rear wheel. The inwash hits the tyre and create large tyre squirt areas going straight into the diffuser. Tried solutions similar to this and shows effective seal, though no improvement in numbers (not optimized yet).Dipesh1995 wrote: ↑04 Oct 2018, 20:09Crazy amount of detail around the bargeboards.

Well it could actually be working really well and be compensating for another weak area of the car.Neno wrote: ↑05 Oct 2018, 02:35too bad it doesnt work.Dipesh1995 wrote: ↑04 Oct 2018, 20:09Crazy amount of detail around the bargeboards.

How are you so certain it doesn't work?Neno wrote: ↑05 Oct 2018, 02:35too bad it doesnt work.Dipesh1995 wrote: ↑04 Oct 2018, 20:09Crazy amount of detail around the bargeboards.

Pretty easy actually. 12th and 16th place in Sochi. Both cars lapped at least once. Other one got lapped twice. When cars updates work they usually go up in standings and get best results.
How does that mean their bargeboard setup doesn't work?Neno wrote: ↑06 Oct 2018, 04:00Pretty easy actually. 12th and 16th place in Sochi. Both cars lapped at least once. Other one got lapped twice. When cars updates work they usually go up in standings and get best results.
For further confirmation we have Hulk's statement after Sochi Renault lost out in F1 development race. That's plenty of evidence supporting my statement.
Not sure if anyone noticed but the sidepod flow conditioners and deflectors on each side of the car are different in that image. The right hand side is the latest red bull inspired set up and left hand side is the old version.Dipesh1995 wrote: ↑04 Oct 2018, 20:09Crazy amount of detail around the bargeboards.
