Allegedly, this car has the exact same wheelbase as it's successors (Mercedes media team said so on their official social media platforms)... Now, tell me, does that car not look at least 10 - 15 cm longer than their 2019 competitor?... And that is with it's now very bulky-looking sidepods, which - one would think - should make it look shorter.
This is W09, the 2018 car!

Yes, I know, hence why I asked "does that car not look at least 10 - 15 cm longer than their 2019 competitor?..." And for the record, yes, they DID say that the W09 and W10 are the exact same length (in terms of wheelbase, not so sure about the 2019's car rear wing overhang and crash structure).

In a recent video, while answering questions, Allison mentioned they like the longer wheel base and the longer it gets, it provides better platform for downforce. So no reason why they would have gone smaller for W10, especially having lost chunks of downforce producing capabilities due to simplified front wing. I would think they more or less had the same platform.

I drove by SIlverstone today but didn't have time to stop and try to peer through the fence, sadly.

No Vettel in 2021 (according to Bottas).

My guess is that as soon as they sign Hamilton, Bottas gets a new extension.

Vettel is pure a backup if Hamilton quits (what I don’t expect, but being a companionate guy, the world changing might give him different views on his purpose in life)

Makes a lot more sense, Russell-Bottas just doesn't have the impact and if Hamilton signs, Bottas(or Russell) will do just fine.

Vettel’s biggest dream was to be champion with Ferrari. For me, him leaving Ferrari meant leaving F1 from the beginning on anyway. He won’t join any other team.

I see people say that, but I don't remember him saying it before he signed with Ferrari.

I always wonder whether it is something drivers are required to say once they sign 😂😂
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

I think it's what journalists like to say and what drivers are supposed to want to do. "It's Ferrari - everyone wants to drive for Ferrari!". Except some don't because, well, Ferrari aren't actually that special once you get past the veneer that old Enzo managed to paper over the team back in the day. Back then, Enzo had to like/want you in order to drive for them, it was a badge of being "worthy" of a seat. Today they're just another team (unless you're a tifosi, of course).

I know. If I was an F1 driver, Ferrari wouldn't be my dream team. Throughout my childhood and formative adult years they were the team my favourite driver's main rival drive for 😂

Nah. McLaren or Williams would be my dream team....you know, if they were winning 🤣

The only reason for driving for Ferrari would be adoration in Italy, the chance to eat well for free and have Italian maidens saying hello.

The same can not be said for eating out in Woking or Grove. Nor can the same be said for the locals...
