146 laps for Sainz today. Fastest time of 1:23.635, about 2 tenths quicker than Albon's Q1 time.

No feedback likely as the Ferrari contract isn't finished.
Track evolution and yada yada, but that is very impressive. Entirely new car and engine with new engineers and he sets a time comparable to Albon in Q1 on Day 1 😯

It's not entirely surprising, as Sainz is firmly in the better half of drivers on the grid, but so soon could be ominous for Albon

I don't think anyone is delusional in thinking Albon can match Sainz

Yes, and unlike some early reports said he was in fact on the C5 tire.

I'm more interested in his feedback but I doubt we get anything until preseason testing.

Ventured near a Ferrari thread online the last few years? Sainz is not rated by a certain section of fans.

On top of, the media going all in on Albon last year, believing he should be back at Red Bull.

I honestly hope that Williams do not write off 2025. A few other big teams certainly will, so the second half of the season might offer interesting opportunities for results.

Sainz was not rated great next to Leclerc. I also mentioned in the past that 2022 car should have been developed further towards CL preferences, something they never did.

Maybe according to unreasonable driver stans.

Otherwise, across their 4 years together, he acquitted himself very well.

Sainz and Albon are rated as the best drivers on the grid.

Vowles said that 2025 will be compromised for 2026.

I still hope that one day they can get back to podiums

Given Mercedes’ rear axle was very flawed for 2024, I hope Williams decide to spring for the 2025 version.

On a side note, Williams has some decent talent at the factory now. Even if the 2025 car doesn’t get a full in-season development schedule, the base car should be OK given the processes are fixed and Vowles/Fry/Harmann have hands on it.

I still don't understand why a backmarker would compromise a full season at the end of the regulation set for the new one.

Unless they have a works deal and a Newey level design team, they're unlikely to leapfrog into the top 3.

They're better off focusing on 2025 while the big 4 focus on 26. Maybe a surprise podium or 2 will happen.

Then compromise 26, taking a chance to see which design is best and copy that for 27.
