A down force gamble, but i wont take anything away from him. It still needed a mistake free drive to execute that string of fast laps.

One more thing, Kubica blocked Hamilton!
Things would have been a little more interesting, maybe lewis behind the hulk.

I predict Mark and LH incident. Marks a poor starter and he tends to force the issue on people who have passed him (LH twice in Melbourne, SV in Turkey and LH Singapore). It should be exciting none the less.

Its a shame if that's true.

How do you know it is a DF gamble? he was only 2km/h slower than the fastest car?

Just some facts that could give insight in tomorrow's race concerning Williams setup gambles:

Rosberg's williams was fastest last year in Q1 and Q2 with the gamble. He lost out in q3 when conditions changed. Williams were the showboat team last year.
I wonder how much the setup will affect the race tomorrow. Hulk should be able to hold on to a top 5 finish though.
For Sure!!

Just for the anoraks... Williams last pole happened 5 years ago... and their last win happened in Brazil 04 with JPM. It would be a fantastic result if Hulkenburger could win here ey? 6 years on? Bring on Maldonado .

It would be great to see an "underdog victory" a la Monza 08.

Now. Did anyone place a bet on him for pole?

Last Williams pole was the 2005 European GP, with Nick Heidfeld at the Nürburgring. That day Alonso also qualified 5th. This explains my caps use: GOOO WILLIAMS!!!!! Please understand, it's been a looong time. The spanish TV "pundits" mentioned 99 races, but I haven't counted them.

EDIT: As Zeph pointed out, Alonso actually qualified 6th that day. That'll teach me to double check whatever crap the spanish "pundits" say. Heck, that's why I put double quotes in the word pundits.

I am not amazed by F1 cars in Monaco. I want to see them driving in the A8 highway: Variable radius corners, negative banking, and extreme narrowings that Tilke has never dreamed off. Oh, yes, and "beautiful" weather tops it all.

Well, If it is the setup, than he must be on a dry setup right? Becouse he was not so fast when it was wetter, and tommorow will be a dry race? (well, I am hoping this is it, I am a BIG Williams fan)

It seemed like it happened, i don't know if the stewards will look into it though. Kubica and Lewis aren't necessarily buddies either.
From Kubica un lapping himslef for no reason in 2008, to recent times when he and Hamilton are in parc ferme in top3 qualy or on the podium they don't say a word to each other. They don't spray champagne together on the podium or even a friendly hug for the pictures.
Kubica wouldn't care less if he blocked lewis, when he has his fast lap to do.

Amazing. I want to see Williams get back to winning. Hulkenberg seemed to be much better in the second half of the season. They should stick with him, he'll get them a win some day.

Not to sound pedantic, but according to F1.com Alonso qualified 6th in that GP (Europe 2005).

Perhaps he needed some time to adjust to the new formula and for the car to develop a little. Now that he has a suitable chassis and has had time to adjust perhaps we will see him flourish. I know I am getting ahead of myself here basing my judgment on one quali, but over a second quicker than a RB is unbelievable. He must be doing something right, something very right indeed.

I'm very tight to Nico's performance tomorrow! Today it was great, but sure with wet set-up

Amazing pole by Hulkenberg and well deserved. Bet it sticks in Barrichello's craw!

I would hope that Hulkenberg's seat is now safe for next year. Charlie Cox says it best when he usually states "Are there any questions?". I think the answer is no, no there are not. Hulkenberg is definately a talent for the future.

Congrats to Hulk !

I'm a McLaren fan, but I have a soft spot for Williams too. Well done !

I can't imagine that with this lineup, all the title contenders can survive the first corner. It's dangerous in much relaxed situations too, but with this lineup....whoa...hope Lewis will survive.
