Did anyone see what was Lando's ideal lap? His S1 and S2 were better in the deleted lap.

IMO Lando is in tier 1 with Max, Alonso, Hamilton.

Piastri is one of the most overrated drivers I can remember
Imagine if team bosses had this snap judgment attitude towards F1 lol- there would be only 3 drivers on the grid.

He’s a rookie learning a very complex Formula. Lando is a McLaren institution and has had time to grow.

If we judged Lando on his opening season we’d all be calling Sainz top tier, and though I love him he’s in the “very good” category and not quite great, so far.

Piastri has a nice small delta to Lando compared to Ricciardo and he will be a serious threat in years to come - he will be especially fast once he has a well balanced car.

Without getting off topic, Red Bull will be sniffing around Piastri sooner rather than later, especially with Webber as agent.

Time will tell but I’m very comfortable where Piastri is on the development curve

Are you basing your comment on the fact that Lando is on pole and Oscar is P8 and 3 seconds off Lando?
No, its the fact that every race day Oscar is slower than Norris, and has slow race pace compared to him, and he destroys his tyres trying to match Landos's times.....
Yea that’s fair enough then.
You are right to a degree about Oscar but just give him time. He’s better than a fair few on the grid. Also I remember a time when I used to slam Lando back in 2019/20 seasons and it upset a few member in this forum…. Now look, just goes to show how wrong you can be
Just a fan's point of view

Need to do a rain dance for tomorrow. We genuinely look like favourites in the wet.

I think it will be different even if it rains tomorrow. The higher fuel loads puts more energy into the tires. This helps the teams who struggled with low temperatures.

I'm afraid I think the rain is gone for the weekend.

We'll still be good in sprint and Qualification though, it has every chance of being a very enjoyable Saturday whatever the weather.

Piastri's car auto shifted to neutral during his lap and cost him a 2nd place start.
took me a while to remember, but it's not the first time this happened, by the way. Similar circumstances as well, by the sound of it.

On one fast lap everything is fine even in long slow turns. It remains to be seen how the fuel load will affect the balance and overall speed in the slow sections.

more likely 3rd, at best. He was about 2s behind already when it happened.

Lando is just so damn good in the wet. There hasn't been any wet or mixed conditions race in recent memory where he hasn't either been crushing the field or at the very least keeping up with leaders on inferior cars.

That last stint on mixed conditions in Monaco last year with the initial-spec MCL60 was just incredible. IIRC he was 0.5s up on Max on average.
Or Spa before the crash, he was miles ahead of everyone else… I remember watching a race when he was in F2, French GP in the wet… Impressive what he was doing there

He was doing well in Sochi too until he stayed out too long.

I liked the colours.

You're right, it's probably useless, it just feels like tradition to post them and see how they do :D

What's worrying for the race though is that Lando was 5 km/h down on Leclerc on the back straight with DRS and 10 !! km/h slower than Verstappen.

And what's frustrating is that on the wet with no DRS they all literally have the same top speed.
The car is not draggy but their DRS is just so bad in comparison to the competition.
