Mercedes GP MGP W01

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It could, however, be used as a great testing session. But I'm not sure... would it violate the chassis homologation regs?
Having gone to the site myself, its actually a McLaren Mercedes rear......
Not Mercedes GP.
More could have been done.

well, i know it says its a mclaren, but i think they wrote the wrong model. If i remember correctly mercedes is the only one with this type beam wing.
Another idea, maybe its just to keep the car and its suspensin horizontal on the bench until the uprights are fitted, i dont know :?:

It does look like the Merc Beam wing. + it would be surprising if McLaren were willing to play with pull rod at this stage of the season. Also, there is another gearbox displayed at the same site that is labelled McLaren Rear and it has all the associated push rod detail. It doesn't look like the same moulding. It's much more likely that the photo is wrongly labelled, but I've just had a quick look, so not 100% sure.

Oh I've had another look and a lot of the detail looks like it is surprise surprise, at red bull or STR

I think it is a Red bull rear end.

and yes, I think that lots of teams will be looking to ape the RB. Only the vented diffusers stopped this from happening sooner.

I'm pretty sure that the picture is of a redbull or toro rosso, compare brake ducts:

brawn admitted they were too conservative in their thinking when finalising the design concept in 20o9 for this years contender.

that sounds a bit weak to me but maybe he wanted to say :they did not appreciate the
magnitude of change needed to remain competitive? so their initial concept(in terms of tyres ,aero etc) was too close to their 2009 car...

I think you are right, imightbewrong. The main give away is there is a secondary duct inside the main rear duct on the redbull. It is the same in the incorrectly labelled foto. Great name by the way.
