In all honesty though - a group as big as NewsCorp, with that much funding and resource - I doubt they couldn't make a big touchscreen as such, and code up a custom UI. All it does generally is show videos which you can select from a list, and it can zoom certain parts. I haven't seen much otherwise.
The F1 show sometimes has that CGI in the room, but that's that - CGI. Nothing special about that.
I haven't watch BBC coverage and just watched Sky via online streaming yesterday due to my cable tv was having a problem.
I used to watch very few local broadcast and Star Sports most of the time.
I would say that I will remove the Sport Package from my subscription and will invest more in higher internet connection to stream SkySport F1 in the future. They just have it all (better pre-race/postrace coverage than StarSports). But I don't really like the anchor. The gridwalk is the best I have seen. The whole coverage was more informative than i previously watched.
for the first time I watched on SKY , and have since watched the whole thing again on BBC iPlayer
frankly BBC told me what I wanted and SKY got up my nose , too gimiccy , yes Eddie gets up my nose on the BBC normally , but at least he is an insider and can drag people in because he has no compunction about doing so , they seem to accept him for the clown that he is !
thought I would miss brundle on the BBC but don't
BBC for me when possible
to the optimist a glass is half full ; to the pessimist a glass is half empty ; to the F1 engineer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be

Not really, it's had latencies of up to a second or two before. The latency varies at random, so I'm pretty sure it's just a guy sat in a control room going "and he's pressing it.... now"
It´s definitely a touch screen TV.
"Il Phenomeno" - The one they fear the most!
"2% of the world's population own 50% of the world's wealth."
At Monaco when it cut to Ant and Georgie in the Sky Pad for the first time it showed the view out the window then they panned around to where the screen was there was a guy sat at a travel case with a laptop, looked very much like he was in control of it.
I would say watching BBC is like watching F1 with your mates. Its almost like top gear if you know what i mean. Sky is like watching F1 covered by somebody who does not really watch f1 or care. That being said Sky has got something very right in my opinion.
1. Crofty and Martin are great! I really enjoy there commentary, Yes they something get things wrong, but it a million miles better than legard.
2. Ants technical view of the starts and racing incidents is really good. I think his look at why perez crashed in Monaco was great. He is informative and Knowledgeable able. (PS: a touch screen that size is easy to build)
3. Ted, What can be said, he is top notch and knows his stuff And with Natalie doing all the interviews they make a really good pit lane team. Shame Lee was not with them!
However they have got quite a bit wrong
1. Simon is dull and has no idea what he is talking about. I have in fact stopped watching most of the build up because of him
2. Georgie. I believe she is there for the same reason the sun has page 3. She adds nothing to the show and like Simon is pretty clueless. She seems nice enough but i will never forget her first interview with JB where she turned up looking like she was going to interview Max in her leather romper suit.
3. Guests and stuff. Jacques, Damon and Johnny. They have not really worked. Each in there own way has been good, but it has not really worked as a team.
4. They need to get to the point and not fill time!
So all in all In my perfect world I would watch the build up on the BBC switch to sky for the race, switch back to BBC for the Analysis and close. Then i might skip through the sky stuff for any features.
I believe in the chain of command, Its the chain I use to beat you till you do what i want!!!
Davidson is not great in my opinion, for instance in Monaco he was comparing two laps of Perez, when clearly Perez had a steering problem. In most other instances, he doesn't say anything I couldn't have come up with, something Brundle, Herbert and Kravitz do very often.
I thought Villeneuve was great in Canada. Opinionated, informed and he seems to genuinely closely follow F1, something I didn't necessarily expect.
I watch the F1 from Sky because that is what you'll get in Australia. However, I have a chance download BBC's coverage as well.
In terms of personality, BBC is definitely better. The trio; DC, Jack, Jordan are really wonderful. It is like the trio in Top Gear, they don't necessary have to be really good about what they're talking about but the three different personalities makes them entertaining.
The sky coverage is really full on and with CG galore but I don't find much personalities in it. However, their coverage, in terms of information (including technical) is quite comprehensive compared to the current BBC.
I think there is less fundings available for BBC this year for the F1 coverage, so you can't compare 2012 BBC with sky. Last year, I thought the coverage was really awesome! Now, Sky is really pro but IMO lacks the human touch.
Watched my firs 'Sky-race' this weekend and I tend to agree with Sawtooth-spik and jamesbong. It's really good, but it misses some personality. I've got the feeling that it's really 'made', with the idea to bombard the viewer with everything they got. The BBC is a lot more personal and last years I really loved the heart they put in everything. It's something I miss at Sky. But the again, Jordan put's a little too much heart in it all, what makes it an absolute idiot at times.
Gotta say I really miss DC too. If you can handle the accent, the man is great to listen.
"I race to win, and if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you're no longer a racing driver." - Ayrton Senna
I have to say that I agree with the idea that the BBC wants you to feel like you're "watching f1 with your mates", only they seem to have hired someone else's - very annoying - mates. It's all personal preference, I suppose, but I can't stand the palliness of Jake Humphrey and how we're all supposed to think Eddie Jordan is a loveable scamp. Even worse, Jake Humphrey keeps espousing these opinions to drivers and team principals like he's an expert; to me, he just seems like a jumped up newsround presenter.
I like Sky's coverage. They're professional and above all they're taking it seriously, which is what I want from my f1 coverage. I'm sure some people prefer to see the BBC's presenters "having a laugh", but I personally find it extremely irritating.

At least he's more informed than all the Sky presenters (bar brundle) put together.

I don't want it taken seriously, I want real information, and a bit of fun – it is after all meant to be a way of enjoying my weekend.
What is happening this year is just a shame. Previous years were awesome at BBC now that team is split and neither sky nor bbc is even close to that. SHAME
