Currently only 4 out of twenty circuits have two DRS zones.Paddy Lowe wrote:We believe particularly that if [FIA race director] Charlie [Whiting] arranges for two DRS zones at every circuit, which is what he has committed to doing, that this will give enough incentive to ratio the car accordingly, pretty much as we do now, the same as if we had free use of DRS
Into Mirabeau? It would be a bloody short one though.turbof1 wrote:Where oh where are they going to find 2 DRS zones in Monaco, given you aren't allowed to use it at the tunnel straight.
I can't think where the 3rd would go, the only other place I can think is out of the chicane, but then you risk the top teams running with DRS open all the way through Tabac and the swimming pool entry.turbof1 wrote:They could go for 3 DRS zones: the current one and 2 short ones, though you would be close to defeating the purpose of the rule change then.
IMO these kind of problems makes me wonder if this was a sensible decision. The FIA has safety concerns, but nobody did have a DRS-related crash. Furthermore I absolutely heard nobody complain in 2010 when people were driving up eau rouge with only hand at the steering wheel and a stalled rear wing.beelsebob wrote:I can't think where the 3rd would go, the only other place I can think is out of the chicane, but then you risk the top teams running with DRS open all the way through Tabac and the swimming pool entry.turbof1 wrote:They could go for 3 DRS zones: the current one and 2 short ones, though you would be close to defeating the purpose of the rule change then.
