The F2005 wasn't raced until Bahrain (the 3rd race) in 2005, while this picture seems to be from Australia (the 1st race), so I believe this is the F2004, even though the photo is from 2005. In 2004 the F2004 didn't have the extra lower element on the front wing, but it did when it was used for the first two races in 2005.

You're absolutely right, I took one look at the front and rear wings and said no way! But you're right the F2005 wasn't released till Bahrain the car was adjusted to meet the 2005 regs until then.

Call me crazy, but I think the BMW f1.09 is beautiful, even if it was a dog of a car. Its apparently naive aero lent the car a somewhat romantic, retro aura.

Absolutely. No porcupinesque appendages or weird proportions - just clean, aggressive, beautifully sculpted lines of metal in harmonious balance. And McLaren's best ever livery to boot! Too bad about the low resolution pictures though.
