Bump my own topic as I was reminded of it's existence.

Anyways, revisiting it I noticed something quite interesting;

These elements on the nose (re)appeared in F1 in I believe 2018. Intriguing to see that this was already being tested in the wind tunnel almost 10 years prior.

I seem to recall the Honda ‘world’ car running something similar, now going to spend hours looking at photos of the thing….

I recall being down voted by the usual Mercedes fans after pointing this out when they touted the Mercedes cars as having them first and then RedBull copied them. Honda tried a bunch of innovative solutions!

Honda was not the first, for the first time these wings appeared on the BMW-Sauber F1.08 chassis, and then everyone else copied them.

Honda tried them in the Barcelona test in 2007 if I recall correctly.

Yep those were the elephant ears from 2007, but there were also more crude ones that Honda was messing around with prior to those too. Real far out designs, I think they were posted here some time ago or I saw them in a Japanese autosport magazine back in the day.
